Interesting Xiaomi insect repeller.

One of the most interesting things about this unit is the way it monitors the cartridges. In hindsight I should really add a couple of wires and measure the current drawn from the cartridge monitoring cell in the standby and running states.

For some reason I've just gone into hibernation mode and am struggling to stay awake in the evenings. It may show in my voice in this video. I barely managed to stay awake while it uploaded and then fell asleep before I could edit and release it.

Interesting Xiaomi insect repeller.

IIRC the NHS guidelines are for between 400 and 1000 IU per day, but do check these out.I take one 5000 IU tablet per week during the winter (it sticks around in the body for a while, so this is fine - a friend of mine was vitamin D deficient and was prescribed a course of weekly tablets by her GP).

It's Transfluthrin.

I wonder what's in the repellent cartridge. I know the ARS ones from Japan/Thailand use pyrethrin or something similar.

Remember to take the right dose - they apparently miscalculated what the dose should be and the Boots one-per-day vitamin D tablets are so far under that dose that you'd have to take over twenty a day for the right dosage. Statistics are hard, apparently....

I guess you're getting ready for hibernating through the winter. Most bears do.

It's got a tiny capacity. It does appear to be used as a very simple timing device.

I really should take a supplement. We don't get much real sunshine here.

Big Clive

Based on my experiences of the watery Manx sunshine, I'd recommend Vitamin D!

I'm wondering if the LR44 is in parallel with the AA's?? I would think that with its small, but not inconsequential capacity, that it may just...just push the unit to last 90 or so days!! ???

On Chinese market these cartridges goes for ~3.22 GBP, https://item.mi.com/1182400024.html

I'm going to test that to see if the current changes between the fan running and being off to compensate for ambient evaporation versus assisted evaporation.

Did you try measuring across the button cell contacts to see if it’s just putting a constant resistance on them to run it down?

So fun to hear you talking like The Count. Very unexpected! When Sesame Street first came on the air I was a bit too old for it. Tiredness indeed, my wife and I have both been tired lately. We need more sunlight! My wife uses one of those light boxes which helps a bit.

Not so sure. I normally stay up until 4am to 6am when I'm working from home. It's been very sudden.

The same motor crops up in a lot of stuff. Often with badly chosen gearboxes. Like disco-light lamps for instance.

Big Clive

Neat device! That fan motor looks reminiscent of the motors I used to see in cassete players back in the day.

It's more likely that the clocks going back at the weekend have disrupted his body clock. It's called Seasonal Affective Disorder. One symptom is people may sleep too much or have little energy.

Bless - it’s an age thing!
