Mystery ropelight.

On my usual pre-Christmas mooching around the shops for desirable lighting stuff I spotted rolls of ropelight in a local Ramsey hardware store called Feltons.

I have to admit that the main incentive for buying it was the mismatch between the front picture on the box (tungsten ropelight) and the electrical specification on the back (31V 3.6W) which alludes to LED.
There's no obvious reference to LED on the box other than in the generic list of random warnings which include a line that indicates that LEDs are not replaceable, but also has tungsten lamp style warnings too.

So I thought I'd share the unboxing with you to see what mystery lies within.

Mystery ropelight.

Those are pretty much the standard light here. I guess that's what they mean by the European reference. They're available in a wide range of LED spacings with some very dense cluster styles like illuminated tinsel.

Clive, have you seen this style of fairy lights before: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07575T8R1/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I purchased a couple of sets for our Christmas tree and have really grown to like them. The size of the led is great for that point of light and you can get up to 1500! leds per set.

Oops. My reply just disappeared. I was suspicious about the picture of tungsten rope on the front of the box. It wouldn't have been the first time I'd bought some "LED" lights and found out they were tungsten when I opened the box.

As a kid I can recall being mesmerised by a bit of ropelight draped around mannequins in a shop window display and wondering how the lights moved through it.

Clive, at 00:54 you're literally pointing at "LED bulb rating" row and saying "this may well contain LED rope light". that's pretty hilarious.

Rope light takes me straight back to the youth club in 1982. Disco Dave spinning the platters that matter. I was eight years old and had no idea what that meant.
