Slight recording issue...

I cracked the screen of the phone I use to record videos a while ago (with explosives), but recently managed to finish the job. I've fitted a new screen, but unfortunately it seems to be inducing electrical noise on the video. So I'll be switching to my emergency backup phone for recording.

This video is a fault finding mission on a faulty rechargeable PIR sensor light that has never taken a charge properly.

I currently use a Moto G4 phone with Open Camera software. It takes a lot of experimentation with the settings to get the best results, but that applies to any camera.

Audacity?

What model of phone are you currently using? I’d love to see a bit more detail of your bench, lighting and filming setup, like a “making of” video. I know we have had a bit of that with your high CRI leds and dodgy power supply but I’d like to see a bit more.

Given the weather and Clive's preference for cooler temperatures, I'm assuming it's a fan.

I've found the same thing with batteries, replace it once which lasts less than half the time of the original then maybe another time if the phone/watch is worth it, then get a new one.

Hey Clive, I applied some noise reduction to the audio from your video. It isn't perfect but it's better than before. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1O9rDGgivfDDW-pv7eW8o2OPZkZ4du--l/view

I like the fact that you did it with explosives!! ... PYRO!

"...and I thought 'oh shit'..." - Big Clive, 2018 Nice to see the Pie Dish of Explosion Containment (Heavy Armour, +6, Roll for Defense Bonus on Next Turn) making a brief cameo once again.

Kryptonite.

The audio didn't bother me at all. About the glue on the iPhone, maybe an application of heat will make it readhere?

Jeremy Impson

Sounded like a little fountain tinkling in the background. Not bad. Interesting little light. Thanks Clive!

Explosions are pretty badass. What are you gonna blow up?

I've actually had great success sourcing extremely high quality iPhone and other phone parts from a local specialty supplier. I had virtually a zero return rate for faulty parts (unlike with every other supplier I'd used before). High quality parts are out there, you just have to find them.

I haven’t had great luck finding any authentic aftermarket part even for common iPhone “OEM” batteries are pretty much anything but. I found the scenes will have surprisingly decent picture quality, but the glad is notable thinner and the backlight are quirk and noisy. I am not even sure if some of these proper OEM item are available aside from the manufacturer. Even then the Apple store sometimes will just replace the phone as some recent friend repairs have resulted in damage to other parts of the phone that weren’t originally affected. IFixit and the like may be an interesting option if they have part for you brand of phone. Perhaps there is another so called “premium” option that may have slightly better filtering.

Nice little unit. Bad luck on the phone, you must be able to source some sort of glue that will hold in surely..

I have NEVER had luck sourcing good replacement parts for phones. There's always an issue. Once I crack my screen, I sell the phone on ebay and buy another one. So far, the glass screen protectors on ebay seem to have prevented any more breakages.
