One last glitchy video! (I hope)

I've had slight issues with the backup camera. It's a Moto G4 plus with a higher resolution camera, but I actually prefer the plain Moto G4. (The one that I broke the screen on!)

This video gets very glitchy as it goes on. I've since restored that phone to factory settings, loaded in only the most essential apps and changed the (suspect) SD card for a much faster one. You can see if it worked OK in the next video coming very soon about the starry lamps.

One last glitchy video! (I hope)

just saw this on youtube instead of here -- i much prefer the heatgun reflow method -- it pulls it into alignment -- its a bit harder on switches because there is possibility of damaging the membrane or the toggle... but whatever works.. both your and my techniques are equally as valid, and its really dependent on the tech as to how its done.

The underside of the switch is plastic.

It looks like the new switch in the middle is sitting right over two tracks. Will the switch body touch the tracks when pressure is put on it?

I'm not so sure historically, the speed limiting of devices with old batteries, while technically justifiable, was done in an underhand way. Certainly now devices are a significant investment I think there is a shift in expectation they should be functional as long as cars, or at least laptops, rather than being fashion items changed every 12 months.

Not to ruin your day or anything, but it's actually "Goot Wick". Goot is the retail brand of Japan's Taiyo Electric Industrial Co. Ltd., they make all kinds of soldering/production equipment and accessories. My very first iron was a 60W Goot PX-series soldering pencil with a really fine 0.6mm tip (and I bought some "Goot Wick" at the same time!)... I'm pretty sure it was the main reason that my early hobbyist projects actually worked at all. :) Far better temp regulation and tip life than those cheapo irons - I also bought a spare tip but never needed it until I passed the iron on to a friend. Being able to get consistently good joints even when you're just starting out and haven't been told about the magic of Flux really encourages you to pursue the hobby further. :) EDIT: http://www.goot.jp/en/

I like being able to film with a pocket sized device.

Have you tried using a digital still camera for videos or does that just get to complicated?

Software moves on but hardware stays the same. It's tempting to blame the manufacturer for wanting to kill old products but I would bet that this is rarely the case. Specifically in Apple's case, the upcoming iOS 12 apparently makes older devices up to 2x more responsive compared to iOS 11 - a rare improvement!

David Glover-Aoki

Clive is it that they are trying to kill the product, or is it that the state of the art software leaves the old hardware behind? Engineering in backwards compatibility does eat into the bottom line, which rules all these days. I don't agree with it but i acknowledge it as an unfortunate reality. I was just updating an old 1st gen 8" windows tablet that was grandfathered into windows 10, and updates accordingly, but it is clear that it is no multi-tasker and the task you require will be delivered... eventually. I don't blame MS for trying to kill it, I simply acknowledge that the hardware (let's face it, CONTINUES TO) struggle to meet the basic demands of the operating system as it evolves and requires additional resources. GREAT STUFF AS ALWAYS

Anything above 20C is starting to get too hot.

Big Clive

Charleso
