Working long hours.
Added 2018-07-27 11:59:00 +0000 UTCThere's going to be a slight gap in video output for a day or two while we finish loading in the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Long hours and heavy-going due to the addition of quite a lot of rather interesting technical equipment. Also hampered slightly by the inclusion of a three phase extension cable that someone had miswired with a phase and neutral swapped, so there may be a video or two looking at the equipment that died explosively when that particular rack was powered up.
We have frickin' lasers this years. LOTS of frickin' lasers in a wide variety of styles from a company that builds all their own equipment. They take safety very seriously, so lots of interlocks, E-stops and daily meter readings and paperwork. I'm hoping to get them to allow me to make a video about one of their smaller units, but know they won't let me show what's inside their bigger ones.

2018-08-04 13:58:55 +0000 UTCLooking forward to any videos from while you are there, love all the back stage stuff, it’s really interesting! And lasers! I’ve learnt so Much from your channel

2018-08-01 06:11:14 +0000 UTCThanks, Brian. I hope Clive accepts. I'd be very interested in the videos.

2018-08-01 01:52:53 +0000 UTCCool! Any laser is a good laser! And all Pyro is good Pyro! Don’t think we can watch live in Canada, but sounds like it’ll be a heck of a show. Enjoyed your tattoo-brew video last year, hope the suds are alive this year as well!

2018-07-30 18:15:54 +0000 UTCJust come across the Electronics topic on YT. They list some pupular channels. BG is not listed but many with much less subscribers are. What a swizz!
2018-07-28 19:04:25 +0000 UTCProfessional lasers have a beam shutter that will click in and block the beam if a deflection fault is detected.

2018-07-28 11:03:06 +0000 UTCHope you have a cracking time. Back in the 1980's, I was paranoid about the 3-phase equipment that I had built, incorporating phase-rotation relays on the supply side to protect against such silliness. I'd managed to bring the costs down from the previous version of the product to permit such a luxury. But you the potential costs of when things go wrong; not even considering the consequences of failure, so the "luxury" is an insurance policy.

2018-07-28 05:31:30 +0000 UTCThat all sounds very cool and I look forward to see what you are able to show off. I wonder if a modern laser show has a failure mode of some kind of protection instead of simply powering down. Like some kind of dowser on the output? I imagine if you power down that would eliminate most danger, perhaps there are moving parts or electrical discharge to account for? Do they have a crowbar circuit on the power supply? No worries if I am completely off base, I am easily excited.
2018-07-28 02:22:01 +0000 UTCSoooo, frickin' lasers with sharks on them?? I know, tattooed sharks on frickin' lasers. Just take it easy, and do it safely. That's all that matters. Cheers!!

2018-07-28 00:34:15 +0000 UTCOh HELL yeah! Be it the Tattoo...or lasers. But BOTH? I have never even heard of this before I found Big Clive' s awesome channel and now I really enjoy the perspective that we get thanks to our man.

2018-07-27 23:31:30 +0000 UTCClive, I work in the inspection industry as a system designer. We do some systems with Category 3 safety circuits (Xray inspection). Given that, we have Cat3 electronics around and some is used and we have no use for it. Would you like me to send it your way to do some tear downs? I have Cat3 safety relays (show the difference between a normal relay and a safety relay), dual channel magnetic interlock switches from Mechan and likely some other bits. Let me know and give me an address and it will be on its way via UPS.
2018-07-27 18:22:34 +0000 UTCWatched it for years loved it, even better now I know that you work on it. No beer this year? Now that would an awesome giveaway prize.

2018-07-27 18:06:02 +0000 UTCI didn't realise how confusing the 3-phase colours are until I checked Wikipedia. The current EU standards use Blue for neutral. Every country outside the EU that uses a blue wire for 3-phase is for the 3rd live! Even the older EU standard used blue for the 3rd live phase and black for neutral (which is now the 2nd live phase).

2018-07-27 17:11:12 +0000 UTCNot to worry! You're working towards an great end. The tattoo is always a special event. Even little Norway is participating every year I think. :) Stay safe and take care! :-)
2018-07-27 15:40:30 +0000 UTCSounds awesome! Thank you for sharing you interesting work with us!

2018-07-27 14:52:33 +0000 UTCOhhh. I can't wait to see teardown of the 'Splodey bits!

2018-07-27 14:51:53 +0000 UTCWhy do we find lasers so exciting? Maybe because it's light that can do damage. Real damage :)

2018-07-27 13:19:55 +0000 UTCCan't wait forthe videos. Maybe you can develope a laser tatoo machine!
2018-07-27 13:05:37 +0000 UTCI'm guessing quite a few of your patterns may be in Edinburgh at the moment, what with it being fringe season... how about a patron tattoo/fringe Meet up?
2018-07-27 12:58:33 +0000 UTCRed to Red, Black to Black, Blue to bits: Oops!
2018-07-27 12:19:31 +0000 UTCBrown, Black, Grey?
2018-07-27 12:17:50 +0000 UTCSwapped neutral and phase, most likely due to those stupid new conductor colours.. Worries me every time I fit off a European appliance with a new coloured cord. Interesting that the person doing the testing and tagging didn’t spot that before it was even sent to site. Take care BC, we will all still be here after the bump in.
2018-07-27 12:17:03 +0000 UTCSounds exciting, look forward to your next set of videos

2018-07-27 12:06:26 +0000 UTCConsider a collaboration? Help a smallish YouTuber grow thier channel and it'll take the pressure off of you to put out things while you are busy.

2018-07-27 12:05:41 +0000 UTCid love to see you build a LED lit up shark with frickin'lazors eyes someday
