There's a local Poundworld nearby and as they're going out of business I thought I'd visit them and see if there was anything interesting left.

18650's have one of the electrodes be the entire outer case, so with DUE CAUTION, you could probably figure out how to jam it in there after taking the insulation off the outside of the cell. I figured that out the hard way taking a laptop battery apart and one of the cells got sliced up. Snipping the welded tab off I dropped the metal into the end which got immediately hot. I was able to diffuse it before it let the smoke out.
