A friend of a friend works for the production company that handles quite a bit of the lighting and projection for the Vivid Sydney festival, specifically the projection system that paints amazing live murals on the Sydney Opera House. He mentioned that their software allows them to superimpose an outline of the shells from a given projector location onto the projected composite image, essentially "auto-cropping" the image to match the actual shape of the projection surface at a specific throw distance. The "Watch Out" software mentioned here sounds really similar, am I in the ballpark? Nice bit of extra exposition re. catastrophic lamp failures too! Thanks :)

2018-08-31 10:28:31 +0000 UTCDuring the load in of the show we had a couple of PRG trainees helping set it up. Many of the followspot operators are theatre students getting a taste of working on a real show (they do get paid too.)
