Show power distribution.

A look inside one of our many power distribution cabins on the show.  It's all based on standard flightcased power distribution equipment.  There's more information in the videos's description on YouTube.

Much as I'd love to do that, Disney are quite strict about behind the scenes footage other than the carefully created and vetted stuff they put out. They prefer to maintain the nice clean customer-side image.

Big Clive

While on a trip to Walt Disney World, I was daydreaming about having Clive do a walk-through of the place. They've got to have some neat kit behind the scenes. Would be enjoyable to see Clive give us his take on it. Have you made a similar video, Clive? Do you think this would be interesting to you or do you think it's just run-of-the-mill?

It's an unusual connector that seems to have been chosen by Avo for its compact size. I'm not sure what it is. This is the only application I've seen them used in.

Big Clive

Out of interest what are the connectors that form the dimmer patch bay? I've seen most things but not sure I recognise those, unless there is something funny about the angle and I've not had enough coffee...

Charleso

I hear what seems to be words coming from my speaker but, having an accounting degree, it doesnt make sense. Are you speaking galic perhaps; an olde version of english? Or, do I need to take a class in basic electrical engineering to understand? BTW I do understand the removal of screws and disassembly of plastic parts pretty well......

We're stuck with a system that was designed by an architect. We have considered other extinguishing systems.

Big Clive

The tails are usually individual 120mm cores. The cables are single core rubber sheath in free air, so rated quite high.

Big Clive

If the system went off it would instantly drench all our electrical equipment with a fog of water that would get pulled in by the equipment fans. It would certainly cause lots of problems. There were quite a few design quirks on the fire alarm side, suggesting a certain detachment from reality.

Big Clive

I'm intrigued to know what would happen if there was some bad electrical fire and that supression system went off. Would there be any further interesting shorting risk or anything? I am a total n00b and dunce in this area, but genuinely curious. I've only ever seen gas fire surpression in the computer rooms I've worked in you see. Maybe an electrical fire supression video would be an interesting topic one day if you haven't already done one?

You say 400 amps I believe. Are the feeders fused that high? What size cable?

Aaron Nadler

i'm surprised you don't use something like novec for fire suppression, so you don't destroy all that kit, especially when it's just a canister bolted to the wall, is there a reason for that?

You've really gone over and above on the "behind the scenes at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo" stuff this year Clive, and it has been great to watch. (but I'm also keen for you to get back to the bench!) Thanks for finding the time to record and present all this, and thanks also to all of your colleagues that have taken the time to put themselves in front of a camera, answer questions and share their knowledge. Really cool stuff mate, cheers.
