The background noise is yet another storm passing by. Such is life on an island in the middle of the Irish Sea.

They sell the Power Geek ones here in the US under the Polaroid brand. (Oh, how the mighty have fallen.) Mine came apart as a first year in college by it falling out of my pocket while walking from the bus back to campus. No adhesive whatsoever on mine.

The orange one, i got one in green exactly the same here in Ontario, Canada. Janky little thing lol

Well that’s yet another thing people can blame on Brexit! #WeakPound

Gadgetman

I have lots of the boxy ones, I have replaced the cells in them with good quality higher capacity ones, the £1 units are perfect for that. If you have half an hour to waste listening to my crap I took one apart, obviously nowhere near as expertly or even accurately as you! https://youtu.be/LiPuQbtpVZo

I think I may just have got lucky given how that case was clipped shut with so many flimsy clips. The traditional boxy version is actually a lot easier to open non destructively. Likewise for putting them back together. The stylish one was a close fit that required tight squeezing to close while the boxy one just clips in effortlessly.

I think I did a discharge test on that unit and got a similar result. A lot is lost in the conversion from 3-4V to 5V. This is probably why they always tend to quote the internal cell capacity to make it sound bigger.

Also your way of opening the case was less destructive than mine, I went in at the 'big' end and lost a couple of clips!

The Tinkering Shed

The capacity results you got were very close to mine except that I only got 1.2Ah when measuring the 5v output, I got c.1.8Ah when I took the cell out and measured it directly. I wonder what you would get on yours if you discharge tested the cell?

The Tinkering Shed

I bet you'd get more capacity if the pound was worth more. Nice video Clive, and again compliments to your good video quality and the print-outs from the pcbs.

that is likely true but i still believe that over 100,000 units 3 pent would be 3,000 cost to the bottom line

God 420

I guess they just didn't think it was needed with the charge and low voltage cutoff in the booster chip.

Big Clive

would it cost 3 pent to have the rest of the circuitry on the boards

God 420

Nope didn't hear a thing. Guess my Sunday is going to the local Poundland then😁

Good video! Didn’t notice the storm noise at all. 🙂
