One more travelling video.

Just before coming back to the Isle of Man from Glasgow I made a couple of videos, mainly to make my luggage look less bomb-like when I went through the airport.  (They still went through it.)

This was a card wallet/power bank that is designed to screen your contactless cards from being read by a skimming device.

I got an iFixit spudger off eBay - thick steel and a nice moulded hand (plug, plug)

Gordo

I've just returned to Australia from 2 weeks in Europe, and I noticed a distinct amount of marketing that was targeted towards traveller paranoia re. having your contactless card skimmed, in the in-flight magazines and airports etc. Bit strange to me, as it's hardly mentioned or discussed over here. The Emirates inflight duty-free offering included several variations of "scan safe" wallets/billfolds/card holders, brought directly to your seat by a friendly member of the cabin crew for a suitably generous amount of US dollars. It's probably worth mentioning that they also offered a "sleep enhancing bracelet" that used "harmonic synchronisation technology", or something like that, to improve the quality of your sleep (as if that were actually possible in Cattle Class!). It cost a lazy 299 US dollars. I decided to pass on that, along with the fancy card-protecting wallets. I managed to get home with everything that I'd brought, and avoided getting skimmed along the way, so I'm calling that a win. :)

Clive, we have interac flash (tap to pay) in Canadia aswell, they say its $50CAD before they PIN check you. ive spent well over 200 in multiple purchases over 50. it don't ask for a pin. The foil is the best solution.

To be fair, my luggage does tend to have a lot of loose electronic stuff poured into it before I head to the airport.

Big Clive

I have the same problem. Every time I go through an airport they search my bags. Apparently a phone charger, a battery backup and an umbrella look mighty suspicious.

Commando Brando

I would gladly pay $10 for a bigclive.com branded spudger.

They sell these in the Tesco petrol stations with all the other gimmicky items you see advertised at the pumps. I saw this and thought it was a bit like having bluetooth nail clippers, you just know that neither aspect is going to be really good quality and ultimately neither would get used for long. Landfill fodder.

The Tinkering Shed

Clive, you forgot to put the chip ID inthe doobley Doo (video description)
