ASDA (Walmart) 12W LED filament lamp teardown.

This was quite an interesting lamp to take to bits.  Mainly because of a mysterious chip.

This was recorded at work accommodation with the Cat S61 phone.  It shows that it's got a good camera that unfortunately drops clusters of frames whole recording when used with non native camera apps.  I hope they fix that issue at some point as this would mean I could travel with just one phone for everything.

In a way the frosted versions make sense, but it initially seemed a waste of the very visual technology.

Some of my coworkers have been there, but I've never been myself.

Looking at your zoom in on the chip, it looks more like AVMAN A or AVMAX A. The second letter definitely looks more like a 'V' than a 'Y'.

Ah.. the good old UT210e 'very nearly' makes another appearance 'cept for the pesky inductor and cap in-situ

I see there are some frosted filament LED bulbs available, mostly Osram brand. They look very convincingly like the old banned filament bulbs, even when lit, throwing plenty of light all around just like the frosted incandescent bulbs. When I showed my brother who's very frugal with energy usage, he was convinced these were just old tungsten bulbs with a fake wattage until he peeped through the clear glass near the base and could see the telltale yellow LED filaments inside.

While you are in Embra, check out Mosque Kitchen, it's at Nicolson Square, near the uni buildings at Potterrow. They do the best food at ridiculously low prices, we ate there a few times when on a job at the uni, it's a big lunch or a good sized dinner, very informal, you can sit outside on a decking with disposable plates, perfect for lunch in working gear. A curry, rice, bread and a soft drink are less than £6 (last year), can't beat it.

Sounds like dodgy caps, but that's always the first thing to suspect, LOL. :)

Looks like a very similar design to the one I emailed you about that only lit very dimly. I've since gained another failed LED lamp that starts flickering faster and faster and faster after you turn it on. I'm happy to send the pair of them to you as I'm interested to know what failed on them.

I was just cleaning up after making a pair of lamps. LED flame effect bulbs in my case in vapor-proof fixtures. Saw the notification and grabbed a cold beverage for it is passing warm here in southern NJ, USA right now. Interesting design, but yeah, hot heat from an LED bulb? That does seem to not be in keeping.

are you going to take it home and do further test's ??
