Checking out a truss arch. (Not a video.)
Added 2019-07-26 03:22:36 +0000 UTCTruss arches are a thing at the Edinburgh Fringe. Nothing says "this is a theatre of sin" (Event Venue) better than framing the front door of a building with an arch of truss with random lights fixed to it.
This one was put in by fellow tech Danielle and her posse in readiness for the upcoming festival.

2019-07-28 22:50:42 +0000 UTCReminds me of the time I got called in to assemble a truss cube for a local event on a public holiday. Took about 45 minutes, but my contract specifies a minimum call time of 3 hours, plus time and a half for the holiday makes 4.5 hours. Took it down the next day, another minimum call, so all up 7.5 hours. There were three of us working and including the actual truss rental costs it came to around ~$1,000. When we got to the pack out it turned out they hadn't actually used the truss at all. They just rolled some fake turf underneath and put a massive Connect Four board underneath. Couldn't believe it. There was no reason for that truss to be there.
