Simplest solar PIR wall light yet?

If you've noticed that I've not posted a video for a few days it's because I've been having an allergy problem with my hands that makes them look a bit rough.

This video is about an Aldi solar wall light with lithium cell and PIR sensor.

It has a very simple circuit board that suggests the PIR modulation may be being detected by software via an analogue input on a microcontroller.  That makes sense, as it can apply suitable filtering and delays.

That's an interesting cause. Not heard of that before. I also had a reaction to the allergy test tape.

After reading peoples comments about allergies I must tell you this. Many moons ago I was running very old multi spindle wickmans, being old the guarding wasn't all that so my arms and clothes were constantly soaked in cutting oil. After a few weeks I started getting a rash all on the inside of my arms. I spoke to my company and they suggested seeing my doctor in case I was allergic to something. Samples of the oils used and various other nasty stuff was put on my back to see what I was going to be affected by. 3 days I had to keep my whole back dry so all the tests could do their work. It was decided that actually I wasn't allergic to anything, apart from the hypo allergenic tape they used. The rash continued, clearing up pretty much at the weekends but returning by the end of work on Monday. Upgraded to cnc machines and the rash stopped pretty my straight away. Turned out that in the oil from the wickman, tiny partials of metal were present, getting in-bedded in my work jacket. Every time my arm moved against the jacket, it was scratching my skin, making what looked like a rash.

Mr Puzzle, another youtuber known for only showing his hands, just posted that he'd been stung by a wasp and his hand was too messed up to make videos this week. Coincidence or conspiracy? :-)

There are recipes for oat milk online. It basically seems to involve soaking a small quantity of oats and then absolutely thrashing them in a liquidiser with water.

I also had a similar issue, mainly covering my fingers and thumbs. It started around 2003 and seemed to get worse in recent years, especially during warm weather. My doctor prescribed a potent steroid ointment (Dermovate), which greatly helped as long as I kept applying it. As I also had bad acne and had problems with chedder causing flatulence, I began to wonder if avoiding milk would help. After 2 weeks, my fingers completely cleared up and get a lot less acne. The only time I get this issue with my fingers now is if I take more than 2 or 3 cups of tea/coffee with milk in or multiple milk-based products (pancakes, butter, etc) in a day such as while out & about. Just a pity almond milk (and similar) are so expensive here in Ireland and I don't like the taste of Soya milk.

I used to suffer something similar to that on my hands, and sometimes my legs. It only started after we bought our house, and it turned out to be a severe allergy to English Ivy which was growing all over the side of the house and balcony. I paid a gardener to remove it all, and I've not really suffered from it since. I'm very careful now whenever I see it growing elsewhere.

I had this and it was a reaction to the lotion I was using to clear the problem. Changed brands and it went away.

When you get the start of the itching, try running your hands under very hot water or plunge them into icy water. It temporarily desensitizes the nerves and reduces the temptation to rub or scratch.

I got it a few years ago between a couple of my fingers. Thought it was the suntan lotion that had set it off or I had touched something. Could not get rid of it so went to the doctor who said something about sunlight and the water in my skin! Gave me some cream which helped a bit but it was weeks until I got rid of it. To this day I am still unsure what set it off but it has not come back.

Another sufferer here Clive and I feel for anyone else with the condition. The first time I can recall having an outbreak on my hands was after spending several days working under the bonnet and washing my hands with swarfega!! Hydrocortizone, a non-parafin moisturiser and time is the only treatment I’ve found to work!! Every so often the outbreak causes the worst itching imaginable!! Thank-you for the post!

I have that same thing, and didn't know what it was called. I find I get it when water is trapped against my skin under certain metals (sterling silver is a big culprit). I also get it when I've had to wash my hands more than usual -- I'm not sure why, but Mike Potts may be onto something with that fungal connection theory. Hydrocortizone does indeed make it go away much faster, and if the blisters are broken, some triple antibiotic mixed in with it closes them up quicker also.

My Wife has suffered that occasionally since childhood. I never got it until we'd been married a few years!! I have a theory that there is a fungal connection. "Caneston with Hydrocortisone" (not their normal cream) stops it itching and makes it go away again faster. I have 30 years of experience of it now!!

The soldering job on those wires look rather iffy. Big Blobs of solder for some, and one looks like it's about to be desoldered. Even one of the transistors is crooked and blobby.

Hoping the hands improve PDQ Clive.

Could we get a picture of the light in action? I'd like to see the effect of the little strip on the back.

Also “my day job is taking a lot of time at present” is a perfectly good reason to slow down on YouTube videos. Which was my first guess. But also “days off for health” is important to prioritise too. Ewen

I get the tiny blisters occasionally between my fingers in hot weather, luckily for me it's been a few years since the last episode, never as bad as you have it though :(

Thanks Clive. I hope your hands get better soon. Best wishes.

Clive, I'll be honest with you. Your health and happiness is our main concern. If you need to take a break. So be it. Hope your hands clear up soon.
