Tamed down version.

I took your advice and re-recorded the video again with a different approach and getting straight to the point at the beginning.

This was actually the fourth version I had recorded as I was trying to get it right.

Now back to electronic stuff.

Tamed down version.

This article has an interesting perspective: https://www.leafly.com/news/health/vape-pen-lung-disease-advice-consumers Apparently the REASON is that vitamin E acetate can be used to cut the THC extract without thinning it out - and it's "common wisdom" that thick oil is good, runny oil is bad - so apparently the black market has been looking for a cutting agent that doesn't make the oil runny ... and the one they found is dangerous when inhaled. Given that anyone can buy the packaging for the faux brands, I'm not at all surprised that there isn't one common factor - it's not like all these things are made by the same people across the country.

And about the vaping injuries and deaths. Last I heard from non-scare mongers is that a common factor still hasn't been found to explain most of them. It was just the last round of them over on the west cost that had the bought-off-the-street cannabis oil that seems to be a common facotr for them. Which is why CDC statement may have been more broad as they don't have a clue what's causing this suddenly outside of they affected may have lightly been doing mods to their devices with products from china and/or vaping street THC oil. A tainted batch of THC oil seems most likely, but I dunno if there has been any link made with it and the east coast cases. The only sure thing it seems is that it wasn't something retail.

I'm in California, one of the main places with a lot of anit-vaping politicians/media. Literally every other bus stop around here has had various anti-vaping ads (paid for by the state) for at least the past year, maybe two. Similar story with network TV. All the ads are pretty similar, all trying to make tenuous links that vaping is as bad as smoking. Yeah, that is crazy, but the reasons for this aren't that obvious. Smoking rates are down and smoking has been their great social cause (more like dragon, white whale, or windmill) for decades. So when less people are actually smoking or just doing so less, the anti-tobacco crowd starts to loses their power, but more importantly, tax income. Smoking products are heavily taxed, and it can vary greatly even down to the city level. Less smokers, less tax income for the state, they never wanted people to actually stop smoking. In California, just the cigarette tax revenue for 2016, it was over $750 million, which is down from the high of over $1 billion in 1999. I would not be surprised if their campaign to make vaping the next evil to be is "socially conscious" to joust is just a step towards getting enough general acceptance to tax the hell out of it. A note about the common smoking death stats you'll get from the anti-smoking groups, they are rather inflated, this was exposed quite a long time back. Any cause of death which is also something that tobacco or smoking has been linked to is counted as a smoking death regardless if any smoking or tobacco has any connection to the specific case. So the common large smoking death numbers include things like everybody that has died to any form of heart disease or lung cancer, including those from asbestos (and California was a big ship builder during the wars). I don't smoke or vape, but I'm against this "Our cause is great. If we have to lie to further the cause, so be it" mentality we have so pervasively here.

I think this remade version is much less likely to be misquoted/ misunderstood than the first one was, which makes it a better choice for a public release on a controversial topic. Thank you for redoing it until the message was clear and difficult for people to misinterpret. Ewen

Clive, thank you for this video. Since the media blew up on this I've had numerous people come at me for vaping, and I calmly explain they blew it out of proportion and it wasn't even basic ecigs causing the issue. The way you put it can hopefully be a more thorough message to pass along. I've used both ecig (been 5~ years now, no regrets frankly) and THC carts, I make my own ecig liquid using VG, PG, and a nicotine (10% with all VG). Carefully mixing the three, and a full trust of the sources. Absolutely zero issues, my lungs couldn't thank me more. As for the THC carts, it seems well regulated here in California but I have seen some items that were certified by the manufacturer and I wasn't precisely happy about that. (majority submit to a third party). edit: I've also been echoing the no flavors approach for quite some time. Just based on the coils of my ecig, using flavored liquids cause quite a bit more build up. Using the non-flavored I can use the same coil for ridiculously extended periods (months versus one week) without any degradation or build up. I don't like the association of "children like flavors, nobody over 18 does" approach they've taken but flavors are the unknown as you say.

I watched both vids. This one is punchier, but both are good!

My Missues quit cigs for 5 months, but nearly slipped back. I encouraged her to vape instead. Reassuring that you say that the menthol basic flavour (which is all she uses) is probably fairly harmless. Thanks again Big C! :)

Yeah, I think the structure is better this time, getting the facts up front at the start of the video, will at least to some extent defuse potential claims of "glamorising vaping" or whatever.

Spot on, worth the effort to re-do. If only the mainstream media did do-overs!
