Make peanut toffee FAST.

Another trash-kitchen recipe and this one is just a bit too good.  It's a very fast and clean way to make a small batch of peanut toffee or tablet in literally a few minutes.

Better still, the clean up is very easy.

Note that this project does involve a glass bowl with molten hot sugar at around 190C so care must be taken handling the bowl and making sure it is not placed on a cold or wet surface to avoid cracking it.

The recipe is in the video description on YouTube.

Thought I better report back that batches 2 and 3 were much better. I got the mixture even hotter than it was the first time and I moved much quicker. Took it into work and it was soon polished off.

If you leave it to soak overnight it will just dissolve into liquid.

Didn't manage to get it onto the foil in time, so a nasty sticky mess solidified in the bottom of my pyrex jug at the moment. :-)

Try number 2. Gave it an extra 10 seconds after the first hint of browning. That did the trick though 5 would have been enough. My wife likes it and considering she hates peanuts, that’s high praise indeed! Ever so slightly burnt but we both love that flavour.

If it turned into sweet peanut crumble the sugar might not quite have reached the caramelisation stage.

Very tasty recipe! I added too much peanut butter to the first batch. Oh well, as Bob Ross would say, there are no mistakes, just happy little accidents!

I did learn two important things from this video: 1) My smoke detectors do work. 2) The timer in my microwave is a good random number generator if i set it to a time below 1 minute.

Wow! Like instant peanut brittle! If you add a pinch of baking soda when the sugar is melted it foams up creating lots of little pockets of CO2 that make the caramelized sugar easier to crunch! :D I'm totally going to experiment with this!

Whoa....

This is amazing. The capitalisation of FAST in the title is well deserved.

I need this!

Not sure what's causing that. I'll check settings here too.

Interesting. Some obvious and some not so obvious.

Clive I am an insulin addict and sinned badly tonight. Thanks in a very nice way. Best wishes.

Just made some of the tablet version. It's bloody excellent! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜‹ Might try some mini-marshmallows in the next batch. πŸ€”

Hope you're keeping safe with the crap weather. IOM is looking very wet at the minute.

The vids stopped playing in the iPhone app at the β€œnew (cheaper) LED neon” post. They play fine otherwise so I had to sit at a β€˜desk’ with a β€˜computer’ and watch them. But every post on Patreon since has the same problem. Let me try turning it off then on again, one moment please... Nope, that didn’t solve the problem. i even reinstalled the app. A clue that might help is that the vids that work, play immediately, while the ones that don’t go to a red YouTube button in the app. That then subsequently gives an error. Hmmm... I may need to update my iOS as it is behind a week! Oh my!

An error occurred. Please try again later. (Playback ID: q0RQcinjadBm_uoS) Learn More

Patreon iPhone (i know, don’t give me grief) app is giving me an error on this and other recent vids. Hmm am I paid up on my account? LOL!

Please consider doing "proper" Scottish tablet some time!

hhhmmm... think I'll leave this tab open to remind me to head to the kitchen when it's not 1:00 in the morning...

Thanks chef!
