Better solar wall light with proper cell protection.

This light makes a more convincing effort with the circuitry than the last one.

As with most of these things there's little attempt at waterproofing, and this one is driving the LED circuitry hard for the size of solar panel.

Good components for a customised unit though.

I bought 2 some time ago. The first thing I normally do is to change the batteries right away. I always use Samsungs Q30's because they are good and I use them in my BLF Q8.But after changing them, they didn't work. So, thanks China! After a lot of fidling with the on/off button I opened it again for a new inspection and then the coin dropped: button cells!! They use button cellls instead of flat tops!! So there was no contact. Every day is a learning day in life :)

I wonder if the mystery feature was a flashing mode that some wise person thought better of?

That was the crinkly candy bag that I'd just disturbed.

Plan On Getting Two Of These...Is It Me, Or What...But At 9:23 There Was The Strangest Echo Sound Of A Snap?

When I first bought my solar wall light February 2010 from CPC, it was the first time I encountered such an item as I was browsing their monthly specials. It cost about €33 and had 3 x 600mAh Ni-MH AAs, which I replaced with 3 x 2000mAh pre-charged type. It stopped working one time a few years ago due to corrosion on the battery terminals, but after cleaning them, the light continues working to this day with the same batteries I put in at the time of purchase. Very different to all the garden solar lights I bought over the years where I have yet to have any make it past a second year, e.g. the Aldi ones literally fell to bits after a year.

It's clear that some designers just don't understand the way water gets in to products. Or the costs of making a fixture truly water resilient are too high compared to making it last for just longer than the warranty period.

Why do they make outdoor lights so badly? I spent 2hrs replacing LEDs on quite an expensive outdoor light. The plastic bit that attached to the top of the ball, where the led goes in ( it hangs by its wire) is pretty much a funnel for the rain. There was some attempt to stop water getting in by a blob of hotmelt glue, but on most it still had a great big hole just waiting for the rain. The solar panel and all the rest of the stuff though was to be fair pretty well protected.

Good grief. First in! Interesting circuit.
