Purple gothic LED star hack.
Added 2018-12-24 03:46:22 +0000 UTCThis video started off as a simple look at the inside of a common LED tree topper and then took a distinctly devious twist with the replacement of the LEDs with a purple string.

To finish it off I added a bare USB plug onto the end of a string of parallel LEDs with the plug and resistors potted into a solid block using hot melt glue and heatshrink sleeving.

2018-12-24 15:32:17 +0000 UTCYou can get micro USB connectors mounted on a little breakout board for pennies. that way you can use a normal micro USB cable to have the battery pack as far away as you want. I use them in all my projects these days because there are always micro usb cables lying around.
