About 20 years ago, I asked my family not to buy me stuff that I don't want for Christmas. That way I don't have to pretend to like it or remind them later how great the gift is/was. I get of enough stuff on my own (and the stuff I want) without anyone else adding to the pile of crap I need to store. I love tools, and have amassed a large collection in my shop. My mother used to think she was helping me by buying the cheapest version of a tool for me and every time it would fail on the first or second use. After a broken tools, busted knuckles, deep lacerations and quite a few cuss words, I begged her not to buy me anything. Sorry to say, she never got the message or understood why I didn't like her gifts.
