Prototype from the past.

I built this back in 1999 to test at a local nightclub.  It was really just an experiment to see how small and simple the circuitry could be made.

I then tested it by going to a nightclub and drinking cider while observing its behaviour in response to the increasing volume during the evening.

I would pay to see That!

You misspoke at 9:20. The way the 560k resistor is connected actually reduces the sensitivity. When the voltage on the base goes up, the transistor conducts more, increasing the voltage drop over the collector resistor and reducing the collector voltage. This reduces the voltage across the 560k resistor, reducing the collector current. You have introduced negative feedback in this manner. To some extent it stabilizes the collector current, which is a good thing, but you also reduce the amplification in the transistor. Cool project, shame you didn't dare to wear it :)

Cool. Just swapping out the LEDs for new ones would make it brighter. It's amazing the difference 20 years makes.

I like the black PCB front. Nice astonishingly simple project, love it.

A 6ft 4 man sitting in the dark, in a corner at a disco, drinking cider, playing with LEDs. Now that would of been something to see

A fascinating delve into the mind of Clive.

It would be interesting to see what you would change if you were to design that the same thing again in 2019.

These videos are the best! I love seeing all the Big Clive creations from years past!

Any good night clubs on the Isle of Man?

Lostngone

was hoping we'd get to see a big clive disco demo
