Tubular uplight.

I'm not sure how this video turned out.  It's one of those ones where I feel unsure if it's good enough to release.

I was expecting the light to be a solid machined core and it's quite interesting how they have used existing materials with the addition of machined parts to achieve that look.  Theoretically it could be scaled upwards by those with the mechanical means to do so (a lathe basically).

I was chuckling about that for a while after the video. Best bit. Maybe I should make it my computer startup sound.

I really like the video and found it very interesting as always from Big Clive.

Please publish - if only for the "Know your place light; Nothing can defeat Big Clive..." @05:40. Absolute Classic.

Yes, might be best to leave this one on the shelf to be honest.

In my very humble opinion, I like the video. It's nice to explore products that haven't already been opened. I think I prefer them to 'here's one I took apart earlier' It feels like we are looking over your shoulder watching.

If my maths are correct 3.3A?

Charles Bruckner

and there was me thinking you were going to shove a few 18650's up the end, with a charge circuit from a cheap powerbank to make it a standalone light :o)

For extra machining awesome: use a big honkin' potentiometer in the base, something like 10ohms (with minimum resistor in series). Machine a keyed hole partly through the end cap, in the same shape as the potentiometer knob. Thread the end cap and tube, but then take a few mm of thread off each side. To assemble, press the end cap onto the knob while it is all the way off, then when you tighten it on the threading, the resistance goes down. So then you can adjust the brightness by turning the end cap.

What is the formula that you use to derive how much current a 40W load on 12V. Having a major brain fart.

Charles Bruckner

also, torch of knowledge! :)

I like the video, in particular because it's not prepared. You haven't opened the device beforehand, so we can share your 'surprise' to what you find inside. Which is great IMHO :)

Paul Schuur

Agreed.

Howard Simons

Personally I think it's fine to release, sometimes you don't find what you're expecting inside something and that's OK!
