Rabid quack comments.
Added 2019-01-18 05:49:48 +0000 UTCSometimes I get some really rabid comments on my quack product debunking videos. Do you remember the one where you put your feet in a tub of water with an electrode and it "detoxified" your body by drawing impurities out of you into the water? It was actually just accelerated corrosion of the electrodes that turned the water brown.
Here's a rather splendid comment involving PhDs and all manner of cures for everything including "reversal of autism". Basically anything that can sell their product.
"This is such a crock of shite I wanna puck. It was I and several other guys that STARTED this Footbath industry with the original design of the BEFE or AQUA CHI in 1997. This piece of Ionic crap is killing your feet. The original 7 ringed design is Based upon a NEW Science of Magnetic Fields like Tesla's was. DO some home work you ionic moron... heres a comparison trial of the original design and this scam copy.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pl1hUskTycc A PhD has been earned on the AQUA CHI in its effectiveness on cancer. Google Marcy Purnell PhD Memphis Uni. NO TRIAL will ever be done on this IONIC crap. BOB MORONey started the scam copies and even invented the fake color chart. If you want to know more about the REAL effects of REAL New Inventions Like The Aqua Chi's killing of STD Wart virus or Its 100% reversal of Autism or flesh eating bugs or cancers or dam near every disease on the planet if we introduce Frequency into the DC that generates the Field."

What can us mortals do about it?

2019-01-27 11:37:00 +0000 UTCHard to know where to start debunking this. I guess the best place is to say I searched reference he gave and it said nothing like he said, probably the single beat indicator of this being exactly the junk it seems to be.
2019-01-23 21:30:55 +0000 UTCMaybe the video was removed and a new has gotten the Id.. or a copy paste mishap ?
2019-01-22 11:33:39 +0000 UTCI would say do a whole "celebrity reads mean tweets" episode but that would just encourage the trolls to amp up their game. Unfortunately while the internet has given everyone a voice, too many chose to use it even though they have nothing to add to the conversation.
2019-01-21 19:19:28 +0000 UTCI actually think this would be a good collaboration opportunity for Clive and Mehdi (Electroboom). AvE for the more mechanical products!

2019-01-20 12:15:31 +0000 UTCOh Clive, you IONIC moron. Don't you know this guy's product is 100% scientologically proven, guaranteed to cure polyfiscal syndrome in the gullible and the ignorant?

2019-01-20 12:12:55 +0000 UTCThe link above takes me to the Yellow Vest revolt in france.
2019-01-20 03:42:05 +0000 UTCIf it really worked, every autistic would be offered a cure and the product would be a household name. As neither is the case, it is snake oil, and shite stuff at that.
2019-01-19 18:59:18 +0000 UTCThis guy really isn't being very fair to Bob Moron-y and his famous ionic idiots. Sure, they won't TOTALLY reverse STD virus warts or flesh eating bugs, but they're doing their best.
2019-01-19 15:45:24 +0000 UTCPardon my ignorance, dut can you not have frequency in the DC? I mean I always understood that AC was defined as a swing in voltage that crossed 0V. You could have a sinewave (for example) the was going from 1V to 5V and it would still technically be DC as the electrons are still only flowing in one direction, just at different 'speeds'

2019-01-19 09:02:30 +0000 UTCThe only electrical medical device I have ever had was a tens unit when I was 16, I displaced my patella on both knees and was in immobilizers for 2 months. I lost a considerable amount of muscle mass in my legs to the point I couldn't walk on my own. So I had physical therapy along with wearing a tens unit as a muscle stimulator. At that time My family lived near a country club with an olympic size pool. My parents would drop me off at the pool for exercise. And I loved it. All the 20 somethings female life guards felt so sorry for me and kept a close eye on me. Well my girlfriend at that time would come and keep an eye on me as well. The first time I went to the pool I removed the 6 electrodes and forgot to turn off the unit and put a towel over the top of it on the chair next to me before I was helped into the pool by my girlfriend, After 30 min or so I was getting pretty nackered. So she helped me out of the pool back into my wheel chair and promptly sat in the chair with my tens unit under her. As the water from her soaked the towel it became conductive right at the worst possible area but a slowly increasing amount. I could tell that she was squirming a bit then let out a scream while holding her bikini area. At the setting it was at. it was putting out 15v at 90hz for 10 second on and 30 seconds off. Lets just say later while in private we experimented with varying settings and electrode placement for some quite interesting results. ;-)

2019-01-19 01:54:25 +0000 UTCmy brain is getting ionized from reading this...
2019-01-19 00:19:38 +0000 UTCIt’s a really common thing. All believers in woo are the same; if you prove one instance of the phenomenon is fake they will conclude it’s that instance of the phenomenon that is fake. They will continue to believe other untested examples are real.
2019-01-18 23:45:10 +0000 UTCYeah! Put some Frequency in the DC!
2019-01-18 22:08:38 +0000 UTCIt would be great pun if it wasn't serious. "Ionic crap" well it's certainly putting a lot of ions into the water I guess he's technically right!
2019-01-18 21:00:37 +0000 UTCWhat a fabulous thing all the way around. Really brightened up my morning to have a laugh at this...erm..."scientist"
2019-01-18 19:09:33 +0000 UTCHaha, ionic moron is a great insult though! :)
2019-01-18 18:18:18 +0000 UTCOh, most of us on this side think it's quack science and scams also. We have a variation of that foot bath, sticky pads which you stick to your feet before you go to bed, then pull them off the next morning to discovered they've turned black after "de-toxifying" (your bank account of that toxic money).
2019-01-18 16:29:41 +0000 UTCI believe we should obtain an opinion from the other side of the pond. Oh, AvE?
2019-01-18 15:39:32 +0000 UTCI started responding and then deleted it so I didn't poke the hornet's nest.

2019-01-18 15:22:58 +0000 UTCThat's the icing on the cake. He sent the wrong link. He must have been spending his evening watching lots of rant videos involving people in hi viz vests with a stethoscope round their neck to imply medical authority.
Big Clive
2019-01-18 15:22:17 +0000 UTCIt's OK. You can buy the electrodes for less than six bucks shipped and add some batteries for maximum detox action in a bucket of lightly salted water. 3 to 6V is ample. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=Detox+Foot+Bath+Arrays&_sacat=0&LH_BIN=1&_sop=15

2019-01-18 15:08:23 +0000 UTCI think we can safely say that the human trials will never actually finish if they are charging for the treatments and equipment. Especially if they are selling them as cancer cures. I quite enjoy the quack stuff, but I draw the line at false claims of cures for terminal illnesses.
Big Clive
2019-01-18 15:07:36 +0000 UTCI'm having trouble following the rant. So is it one crazy quack complaining that other even quakier people are ripping off his quack product with quack products that are ripping of his product? Is there no honor among quacks?
2019-01-18 14:50:18 +0000 UTCPeople like this scares me. There's no way to know if he is trolling or he actually believes that crap. The best thing to do is to not respond, it's a complete waste of time. Thanks for sharing!
2019-01-18 14:49:21 +0000 UTCJust ask Kenneth
2019-01-18 14:46:18 +0000 UTCBull shit directly expose any cell to a hypotonic solution and it will probably burst it. and I'd imagine the cancerous cells had more cellular inclusions than the normal "healthy" cells. I looked at the dissertation and well I couldn't find any mention of the tonic state of the cells before hand or the ion levels in the cells. both of which would determine the rate etc of ionic transfer during the process.

2019-01-18 13:44:16 +0000 UTCTo me he is saying the cheep product in your video is a knock off that doesn’t work properly. He agrees that it is an “ionic moron” but that his legit and original product “aqua chi” works wonders.

2019-01-18 13:42:54 +0000 UTCThe yt link does not seem to be related, am I missing something?
Pieter Gosselink
2019-01-18 13:36:37 +0000 UTCBoy, he really did swallow that BS whole. I'm always impressed by people's certainty that the quackery works, and how rude and indignant they get when challenged on it. The enemy of reason is not ignorance, it's the illusion of knowledge. As a rule, the more certain someone is that they are completely right, the more likely it is that they are completely wrong.
Dave Davies
2019-01-18 13:30:44 +0000 UTCWonder how many crayons he ate whilst trying to type that lot out....
2019-01-18 12:42:48 +0000 UTCIt's true. But it appears to be a case of a bullshitter getting a PhD via an advisor and PhD committee who don't have a technical background that would let them see through the bullshit. Or a school that allows bullshit PhDs. Here's the link to her nursing PhD dissertation: https://dc.uthsc.edu/dissertations/377/ (I briefly checked into the backgrounds of the people involved with her dissertation. I'm sure they could handle an actual nursing dissertation's content, or something more legitimately biology related. But quantum bullshit might be a step too far for them.)
Jonathan Hendry
2019-01-18 12:41:24 +0000 UTCWell, he convinced me. Seems legit! Speaking of, I hope you can find more quack products to review and tear down and reveal the magic (or lack thereof) underneath.

2019-01-18 10:22:26 +0000 UTCIf his science is as good as his grasp of basic English, then I am sure it will cure his nausea as effectively as it would cure autism. People as intelligent as he seems to be should be denied access to the real world.

2019-01-18 10:11:52 +0000 UTCYeah sorry I can only give that one 6 out of 10. There was no mention of “chemicals“, “vibrations” or “toxins” and no usage of “natural”, “organic” or “free radicals”. It was a nice effort though and I do commend the sheer balls required to claim to know a cure for almost all disease.
2019-01-18 09:23:37 +0000 UTCFrexit? Tesla? PhDs? What a load of bull crap...
2019-01-18 09:18:49 +0000 UTC"A PhD has been earned on the AQUA CHI in its effectiveness on cancer" - Of that, I highly doubt.

2019-01-18 09:10:56 +0000 UTCI am reminded of Wolfgang Pauli who, when shown a paper by an ambitious young physicist, replied "That is not even wrong."

2019-01-18 09:06:06 +0000 UTCNow I wanna puck. I'm reminded of Billy Madison: "Mr. Madison, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
2019-01-18 08:52:02 +0000 UTCThe device was just a failed attempt to make fake Irn Bru!!!
2019-01-18 08:45:44 +0000 UTCIf the aqua chi wouldn't cost about 1600$ i would donate it but thats about as much money as i get per month from working and i think it isn't worth it. Looks like the one he is referencing has copper and steel as electrodes. So with dc copper gets into solution. The only effect you could expect from this thing would come from the copper salts...

2019-01-18 08:34:00 +0000 UTCI think I'm going to puck. I feel like such an ionic moron. I need me some of that there NEW science, action.

2019-01-18 06:13:28 +0000 UTCThe problem is, these people prey upon the vulnerable. And not everyone is as educated as I'm hoping we are. It also becomes harder when there are two seemingly legitimate sides. Just take the anti vaxxers as an example.
2019-01-18 06:10:56 +0000 UTCThat’s glorious. If there’s anything that guarantees scientific credibility, it’s some twit screaming into the aether in RANDOM caps and SWEARING!!! With MANY CLAIMS and ANGRINESS and scattergun punctuation.

2019-01-18 06:00:19 +0000 UTCFrom a PDF linked off the Aqua Chi footbath website on Marcy Purnell's research: "Human trials are not yet underway. Therefore, a direct correlation to health outcomes for users of the Aqua Chi have not yet been scientifically demonstrated. While anecdotal evidence has been mounting for many years, approval of the Aqua Chi Foot Bath as a medical device cannot be sought until human trials have been completed.
