Outdoor power supply long version.

A longer version of the video that explores the circuitry in greater detail.

The shorter version skips over the deeper stuff like the actual operation of the switchmode power supply circuitry.

It's one of a few different sets of VDE screwdrivers by Wera. Quite expensive, but good quality.

Big Clive

Hey Clive, where did you get that handy insulated screwdriver with interchangeable heads? Been looking for something like that for a while. Thanks!

we had a cheap 10w rgb light above the pond, every night from 8pm our broadband had connection issues, after loosing what little hair i had left trying to diagnose the fault it was the rgb light, seem to recall testing the noise on an am radio

Hmmm, look at all that empty space in there - a veritable vacant apartment for bugs of all sizes..

Gordo

I think it's age coupled with conditioning - I have found myself unconsciously tapping product photos in those CPC special-deals magazines and waiting for the product page to open..

Gordo

He got me looking into capacitor failure modes, which has been great at work.

Michael Thompson

That was my thought also. Seems to be a decent supply, just needs a little help before actually using outdoors.

After watching both I'd say the long version is my preference. I started watching your channel because you tear down interesting items but quickly realised that the content was educational, you often expose components which I have not come across before, you explain where you can and you experiment in a way which takes the viewer along with you. For these reasons it's always going to be the long version.

The Tinkering Shed

Yes, I accidentally probed the picture in a video and also tried to turn a photo over to look at the track side.

Big Clive

Clive, have you ever goofed and gone to probe the photo instead of the PCB? For some reason when you first showed the photos of the board I completely lost track and was ready for you to probe the photo when you reached for the PCB! Well you can blame the rum I suppose... Long version, short version all good as far as I'm concerned.

Michael Thompson

Some are constant current for series circuits and some are constant voltage for parallel circuits.

Big Clive

Ok. I always suspected powersupplies marketed as "LED...." to have some kind of current limiting. Apparently not. Thank you Clive.

Could you not just fill it with epoxy, or silicone kit? Or would you get thermal problems with that?

Hub Rijcks

these would be useful to use automotive lights on the grid

God 420

I went for the long version to get the extra juicy bits.

Its a 12vdc power supply and bug zapper built in to one unit.
