An Indian product for a change.

China isn't the only gadget option on eBay.  I don't think India has the benefit of China's ridiculously low shipping costs, but their base prices are so low that they can still sell some interesting products internationally.

This video is about plug in vapourising / vaporizing insect control units.  Mainly aimed at mosquitos, but also probably suitable for nuisance bugs like midges and no-see-ums (which sound like the same thing).

The active agents are also suitable for moth control, which is interesting, because the dedicated moth control products in the UK often have an inflated value due to being associated with the fashion industry.  Notably the overpriced moth protection cards which are basically a tiny portion of repellent soaked into cardboard.  These units could offer a more functional and versatile treatment option.

I'm sure I've been put on plenty of lists since the dawn of the 'net.

Big Clive

Never thought of that. You know we're now both on 'the list' for this, thread? 😄

The Tinkering Shed

Easy. Just cable-tie the liquid cartridge onto the side of an exocet missile.

Cockwombles? How the hell are you supposed to get into Downing Street to plug one of these in???

The Tinkering Shed

If that one does contain lemongrass oil it will attract honey bees. Seems like a strange choice.

Nani Isobel

They didn't have any left.

I'm not sure why the power factor is skewed slightly. It might be a resistance fluctuation effect associated with the temperature ripple.

get a cat they keep mine entertained to no end, pyrethrum is a plant extract from a Chrysanthemum, its a pretty safe insecticide my dog ate a whole spray bottle full meant for white cabbage month control outdoors

Clive - At 5:45 you say you went back to the store to get another green one but then you never say what happened. Were they all sold or had they been pulled from the marketplace?

Mark Trombley

So this isn't vape fluid? I think I have been doing this wrong.

Mark Trombley

I wasn't ready for cockwombles! Brilliant. Fortunately insects aren't much of a problem here in the middle of England.

Matt Tester

Why is the power factor of all those devices smaller than 1, if these are purely resistive loads, even the one without any lights?

The midges are often terrible here in Ireland also. Most mosquito repellents barely work with them either, which catches out visitors such as from the USA. If it's warm, dead calm and overcast outside (ideal conditions for midges), I've yet to find a repellent that completely keeps them off me other than a mosquito net.

Rupees are usually written Rs. (with the dot) or ₹, often combined with multipliers like lakh and crore. 0.85 rupees would be just under 1p.

We have the same problems with shipping in Canada but here it is suspected that it is the postal employees are pocketing stuff.

No-see-ums are like American midges as far as I can work out, except they're way less psychotically determined than Scottish ones.
