Same video. Different title and description.

For those who wanted to see the thermal camera video I've uploaded it again, but made the title and description vague so it has no real context to the current situation.

https://youtu.be/WZWZ-UgnbXg

I may release it for public viewing, but it was very obvious that the trolls and self appointed YouTube-police are actively searching for keywords like "coronavirus" and unleashing their bitter rage and tabloid science in the comments sections with force.

My original purpose was to indicate that a phone with a thermal camera has other uses than hunting for bodies and faults.

Same video. Different title and description.

Hi Clive! It seems your idea isn't at all far fetched - apparently a team of researchers here in Czechia thought of this as well and started developing a solution a few weeks ago :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_dA6eQh3Vk

"One of these resistors is a higher value, if you're technically inclined you'll spot which one it is" *puts his finger on the outlier* 😂

Yeah we're keeping him I'm business

AvE, he says chinesium all the time, probably where big Clive picked it up, it's quite contagious.

Dylan

Good luck finding any phone made in Britain. Even if it's assembled here, the components won't be made here. As for the video, I think it you used it without the virus context it may be OK (I've used a FLIR C3 myself), but with the virus context it's possibly somewhat misguided - thermal imaging only tells you if a person possibly has a fever - not what that fever is. Although scientists still don't have all the answers regarding Covid-19, asymptomatic spreading appears to be a possibility (droplets expelled by talking may be an option), so by the time you've finished scanning everyone in the pub, you've got some very strange looks and it's possibly too late anyway. Better not to be there in the first place.

Apple phones just work because you have a locked down vertical. You’re not going to have domestic manufacture, anywhere except for China Vietnam korea phillipines maybe. Workers cost alot. If we’re talking a slow migration to Nation 01 a la matrix, maybe maybe you get localized manufacturing because humans don’t touch the line until the end product.

Cerity

I’m considering my next mobile phone, although I’ve had iPhones for years, my next phone must not be made in China. Time for a British built phone? Or time for Apple to see sense and build phones in the USA?

I'm sorry you feel that way. Can I just point out that the fatality rates being touted by the media are very skewed because they are based on people who have developed health problems and submitted for testing, and are therefore more at risk than the majority of the population. The way the media has behaved is reckless, because they have left people in a state of terror believing that there is a much higher mortality rate. Most people getting it will experience brief symptoms and then recover, possibly not even knowing they had it. The enhanced fear is putting vulnerable people at higher risk because the extra stress will be compromising their immune systems ability to do its job.

Big Clive

The thermal video was made before we had cases on the island. When it was brought across by people who had been travelling the island locked down and that pub is currently closed until the island is clear again. The thermal scanning technique is apparently used by some international airports to detect travellers who may have a fever, who are then separated and given other tests. The point of this video is that a compact device can be used to do a rudimentary test on a large group of people simultaneously without being intrusive. It could potentially have benefits to society.

Big Clive

It's not public.

Big Clive

It's not openly posted.

It doesn't even take an FLIR camera, those just make it easier to compare the target versus background. Go down to a cooking supply store and get an Infrared non-contact thermometer. Some of them have a laser dot to help you aim. They are used for cooking, I've got one for the bbq grill. Well, we're made of meat also and my skin temp is 95F this morning versus the ambient temp of anything else in the room. And FLIR is what they're probably using at the airports/etc to screen passengers. Haters gotta hate. Idiots are incurable.

Sounds like FSM didn’t bless this poor guy with brains

No doubt the sycophants dumbfucks will keep you in business

What makes this a "good" video?? You went to the pub and congregated with other folk who make poor life choices. The advice in the UK has been very clear and you ignore it and think your temp sensor makes you safe. Please research how this virus is spreading and note that temperature is not a good indicator. I used to really enough your videos, very informative on subjects you were obviously qualified to pronounce on. Recently the content has become "samey" and videography is sub-Julian (by a long way, the man knows how to zoom) and the continuous worrying about brightness and the "I'm not not sure" comments. Check out the videos coming out Asia if you want to see how to do it professionally and interestingly. Unfortunately that will probably offend your racism. Who in their right mind says Chinesium these days. Good luck in you isolated world when the virus gets there. And it will.

Honestly Clive just start putting your video description as Video #1" and keep counting up. no matter what your description we will watch them all. I dont watch your newest video because of what you call it, I watch it because I am going to watch any new video you put out, because YOU put it out. Then let YouTube pound sand to find a problem with your keywords.

Thank you Clive for the re-upload! It is a good video and it was a pity you removed it. On the other hand, given the current situation, I would also recommend you to not make it public, at least not yet. As some already mention, I also believe that you may find yourself in an uncomfortable situation due to the Pub footage. Thank you very much for your excellent work!

elias

Cat are actually listing this as a potential use on their website here: https://www.catphones.com/en-gb/

Hi Clive, I think the video is perfectly fine, but I think you will get a canning again if it goes public. Most people will not read the info with it, and freak out at you being in the pub, even though common sense will realise it was before the Pubs being closed, and not realise you are explaining the fact the infrared can show elevated temperature not that it means that person has Corona Virus! ................keep up the fantastic channel you have, especially the Live Steams.

Nice phone, but the Chinese went one better with IR helmets https://amp.scmp.com/tech/article/3052879/chinese-police-now-have-ai-helmets-temperature-screening

Dylan

Clive..... THANK YOU for posting this. PLEASE ignore the doom sayers. You Clive are working with a Peatron audience that have some brain cells. The "blackers, nutcases and doom sayers did lose theirs long ago. Keep up the good work Clive, we stand full and square behind you !!! OK ???

Flir One is what I've been using. Mostly for personal amusement, given I've been sat at home for like two weeks.

Chris Crowther

Glad you reposted it. Things that might or almost work are the building blocks of ideas and progress.

Mike Page

I have an old Flir One that connects to an iphone 5/5S and looks like a battery pack/case. I am still able to use it on an iphone 7+ with an extension cable but hold it separately. I’ll have to try it for fever detection now. Thanks Clive😁

Jeff LaHay

Yay you posted it! I can just imagine how the youtube comment section is going to look with this one. Haha personally I dont see a problem with it, its hard to identify people through a thermal camera

Coil B

Thanks for making it available. It does show what the phone can do. Maybe it can survive all the churn now and people will find it useful after.

When I originally took the plunge with the Flir E4 a grand seemed a lot to spend on a tool at the time, but it opens up a new dimension. I've used it a lot. (I bought it after the hack had been discovered that unlocked full resolution and features.) It was so useful that having that function built into a phone and with me all the time seemed like a good idea. The CAT S61 isn't without its issues though. I was hoping to record videos with it, but the main camera doesn't work properly with other apps I've tried that give more control.

Big Clive

Thanks for re-uploading. I missed the first one I had no idea there were phones that had Thermal Imaging built in. I worked with a guy that had a Flir, and it made troubleshooting cheatingly easy. I have been debating on buying one myself

Me too. It seems to be a very sensitive subject at the moment.

Big Clive

New verse. Better outcome. Reading up on this. Botnets and such amount to most of the spam. How much is human initiated is unknown. I would hope people don’t actually think against science.

Cerity

Woo Hoo! Couldn't bring myself to click the little heart on that last post.

Scott Miller

I was surprised at the negative comments you were getting on here. We are living in strange times
