UVC disco light?

I've a sneaky feeling that the "253.7nm UV germicidal light ultraviolet disinfection ozone sterilisation lamp" that I've just ordered is going to be very similar to the one in this video.

But I'll hold off until it arrives just in case the LEDs are actually putting out the exact same wavelength as the UVC line of a mercury lamp.  And that the TIR (Total Internal Reflection) light collimators are UVC compatible.  I've not got high hopes though.

I did that on a number of fake products but before too long you find random eBay sellers you've never bought from have blocked your eBay account, I guess because the same person/group has multiple accounts and they block you from all of them. I figure if they can flout eBay policy like that then so can I, so now I have three eBay accounts...

Please raise a case stating that it's faulty when it arrives!

Bit expensive for the likes of us methinks: Price Each (On a Reel of 500) £32.946 - that makes £16,473.00 per reel :-o

Shame they didn't use it on themselves before the virus escaped and wreaked havoc in the world...

Things that happen such as this pandemic, really do bring out the worst in some people. I have nothing but contempt for them and they should be shown up and outed for the shysters that they are.

278nm LED from RS, at the price I doubt any of the LED lamps Ebay is currently flooded with use anything like these https://uk.rs-online.com/mobile/p/uv-leds/1730310/

254nm LEDs are typically used in phone sanitizers. I got one for less than $10 per LED in the sanitizer, which supprised me with the correct wavelength. But I think those deals are long gone now.

I saw these scammers. When you try to source a real 254nm LED, they cost over $10 each for relatively low power. For now I'll stick with CFLs.

This is horrible... i know that they rip of people but that some are so shameless... for desinfecting i use one of these ozone generators that claim to produce 10g of ozone her hour (these with two ceramic plates). Oh by the way. A friend uses one of those flourescent mercury lamps with that high pressure uvc lamp in the middle without the glas mantle around. It's basicly a 1000w uvc lamp. He uses the proper percautions with this thing (thankfully)

I'm not sure whats scarier, that people could be lead into a false sense of security thinking it kills germs (when it doesn't), or the fact that if it was truly a UVC lamp, it might end up at someones birthday disco causing nasty burns and eye damage. I'm interested to see the outcome!

But you looked directly into the light so you are blind now. That is preventing you from seeing the benefits of low power near-UV leds in disco-light shape. Take two healing crystals and call me in the morning.

I was just wondering an hour ago if I could sanitize my cloth mask with a UV light. Good timing Clive.
