I've released the UVC video early.
Added 2020-04-03 04:40:17 +0000 UTCI normally leave around a week between releasing on Patreon and YouTube, but there seems to be a fad of people buying UVC lamps to "kill the virus" without knowing their true hazards.
All my previous UVC videos are getting a lot of attention and people are asking really dumb questions that show they haven't even watched the videos or don't understand them.
It's basically a dangerous scientific and industrial thing in the hands of the general public.
To try and reduce the inevitable amount of accidents I've made that video short and snappy so more people watch it and absorb the information before they end up exposing themselves and their families and pets to harmful levels of UVC.

Let's hope that it works according to Darwin's Law.
2020-04-07 16:28:42 +0000 UTCNow might be a time to switch to vaping. I've a horrible feeling that many of the deaths may be in people with compromised lung function due to smoking damage. Italy may have had a high mortality rate because the populace are older and smoking is common.

2020-04-04 02:50:22 +0000 UTCYes, but I'd like to try and stop the Darwinian parents taking out the non-Darwinian kids.

2020-04-04 02:48:49 +0000 UTCYouTube is complicated that way. If I hide an older video that is coming high in the searches then it may also mask a more recent video of the same subject. Both are filled with warnings, so if someone gets bored of the longer technical video they are more likely to find the shorter one.

2020-04-04 02:48:05 +0000 UTCI was toying with a video about making hand sanitiser out of sugar. And then telling people that although it was technically drinkable they shouldn't do it because their government does not approve of things like that.

2020-04-04 02:23:37 +0000 UTCThe craziness is me continuing to work and expose myself and wondering when I'm going to get it. I'm up late (for me) on a Friday night truly wondering how many I have left, so I'm up a little later having a wee smoke, enjoying a cup of cocoa and some Melatonin and waiting to be tired. Larry Niven Quote: “The witnessing of titanic events is always dangerous, usually painful, and often fatal.”

2020-04-04 02:08:10 +0000 UTCSome lamps are optimised for ozone production - it depends on the wavelength of the UVC produced. For ozone production, it’s typically around 185 nm. UVC around 250 nm is a more effective germicide itself, but won’t have the added benefit of the higher ozone production. It depends on the application, but none of these things were designed for domestic use, of course. Edit: I should point out that the technology exists within domestic products (eg water treatment) but isn’t for domestic use on its own (in the same way that a microwave oven contains a magnetron). In fact, the idea of people who don’t know what they are buying magnetrons to use at home, isn’t too dissimilar to buying UVC lamps.
2020-04-03 22:34:04 +0000 UTC... Clive you don’t believe in the Darwin effect?

2020-04-03 18:55:16 +0000 UTCPerhaps, Clive, you should consider making some of the earlier videos unlisted while this craziness is going on - if only to help "channel" people who search for UVC to your new video.
2020-04-03 17:23:34 +0000 UTCI almost ordered one of these UVC bulbs last week but hesitated because of conflicting claims. So I googled bigclive uvc and re-watched your original video. Of course the disco light looks ridiculous for this purpose but the ads claiming you can order the same bulb with or without ozone are more puzzling. And then they throw in the corncob uv’s! If there is an easy way to measure the wavelength on video that would be helpful. Also for people that already use ozone generators is there any added benefit of the light + ozone vs just ozone. So many questions

2020-04-03 16:25:12 +0000 UTCGratz on recovering! Good news for a change

2020-04-03 15:55:19 +0000 UTCI'll admit, I did not know you could buy these things. Now that i'm recovering from likely having Covid-19, I'm unfortunately now interested in these. It does seem a bit risky though. By the way, the cases are immensely under reported. I was turned away for testing as I am not a first responder, health care worker, or over 60. The US simply doesnt have enough test kits available and they are reserved for higher priority folks. This is far more widespread than even the worst estimates.

2020-04-03 14:15:05 +0000 UTCKeep going as you do Clive, there are some in this world no matter what you say or publish they will blunder in, cause no end of problems and pain. On another note, just bought my first soldering iron off Amazon and after little projects to learn with, bought a little clock first but will look on your website if you are still doing the kits?. Cheers Clive, stay safe everyone.

2020-04-03 08:40:07 +0000 UTCThat seems odd. All of my devices log into Patreon automatically.
2020-04-03 06:45:08 +0000 UTCLet's hope it saves a few people from themselves.
2020-04-03 06:43:31 +0000 UTCCan't you just release all your stuff straight away? I support you on Patreon to support your fine work, not to get your content a week earlier than others. Not a rant at you Sir, but I find Patreon really clunky and can rarely be arsed to do a separate login when I'm on the move ... and boy do those Patreon guys make you log in... Like every time it seems God knows how many times I verified this device ... Like just now so I could comment. Usually I end up watching when the content is released to everyone even if I could watch it earlier via Patrron.
2020-04-03 05:51:39 +0000 UTCGood call Clive. Hope you're staying safe and distilling your own hand sanitiser

2020-04-03 04:55:40 +0000 UTCThank you Clive, I have been looking for your last video on UVC to send to all the people who are about to burn their retinas out with all the cheapie UVC lamps that Banggood and the like are promoting as the miracle cure for “the virus”
2020-04-03 04:55:33 +0000 UTCAgreed, Jason.
2020-04-03 04:45:22 +0000 UTCThis, is why we need more required apprenticeships in technical areas. Though, I am sure everyone has their thank you's to say when they see the video.
