Fake UV sellers response:-
Added 2020-04-22 15:10:10 +0000 UTCHello,
The lamp you bought is an ultraviolet lamp, it is indeed sterilizable. You can check it online. The UV lamp has sterilization function.
Can you tell us why you think its description does not match? Where exactly does the description not match? Isn't its light purple?
Best regards,
Mary
Well I'm convinced. Because it is indeed purple.

From the BBC news web site today: 'Mr Trump then hypothesised about the possibility of using a "tremendous ultraviolet" or "just very powerful light" on or even inside the body as a potential treatment.' So go for it, chaps and chapesses, but do try to find a swallowable model :-)
2020-04-24 12:51:32 +0000 UTCVery generous minded? of you Tobyyy but I think it’s rather more likely that greed and fuck em is at the root of this.
2020-04-23 12:43:18 +0000 UTCI think this shows some pretty dangerous mindset of some people who learned stuff themselves without proper education. It's perfectly possible that these people genuinely wanted to help. They just don't know how badly they screwed up. They know some electronics, have manufacturing capacity, looked at existing uv lights and "reverese engineered" them. And missed big important thing that is hard to see when you don't know where to look. It's same like kids wanting to help parents but making just mess. Just naive ignorace that would be sweet if it wasn't such serious thing. Proper education is important.
2020-04-23 10:02:23 +0000 UTCWell, that settles it then. Purple = works just fine! It’s also on the internet and that just makes it even “truer.” 😂

2020-04-23 07:00:05 +0000 UTCYep this is a known tactic - they try to delay you so much the eBay returns window expires. It's why you NEVER agree to have them resend it. What I always say is I'm happy for them to resend but they'll have to give me 100% refund and then I'll order another one from them so the buyer protection period starts all over again. The only sellers who have agreed to that have had the replacement actually show up so I guess those ones legitimately had it go missing. Also - never buy any storage medium from China unless you know how to use the tools out there that write to every byte of that storage and then verify it start to finish, so you know you're getting the capacity you ordered. Almost all of them coming out of China are fake, typically the small sizes they can't sell changed to report huge bogus capacities. If you know what you're doing you can complain, get your money back, then reflash the firmware or repartition the drives so you end up with a usable storage device out of it though (obviously much smaller than the label of course).

2020-04-22 22:56:01 +0000 UTCReminds me of the time that I thought I had a constantly lit pixel at the bottom of my screen ...turned out to be the tip of my mouse pointer. I'm so tempted to liven up my evening by playing a track by the much missed and immensely talented musician Prince ...Purple Rain ...in homage to Mary, who is probably not a charming (but dim) lady sat behind a desk, but a big hairy *rsed geezer.

2020-04-22 22:49:21 +0000 UTCPhil - please change your avatar! I nearly wrecked my screen trying to kill that thing. Of course - I should have shone a purple light on it! (Much more effective and less destructive than the heel of my shoe).

2020-04-22 21:10:23 +0000 UTCPurple. How scientific of them. 🤦🏻♂️ Here I thought they were selling ultraviolet lights. Violet, with very few exceptions, is not purple (like none).
2020-04-22 20:08:15 +0000 UTCHmpf. Nice me wants to allow that maybe the seller really is ignorant and doesn't know better. Mean me wants, at least, to tar and feather the seller.

2020-04-22 16:49:45 +0000 UTCI bought a 2 TB USB drive in December. I got it in early January ,it was defective. They said they would replace it, after 3 weeks I asked for a tracking number and they gave me a fake tracking number. I asked the seller for a real tracking number since giving me the first fake and then they gave me a 2nd fake tracking number. I opened a complaint, they told me they would send a replacement after 4 days I asked for a tracking number, so I went to Ebay, they said the complaint was satisfied and I had 3 days to appeal and since its 4 I am out of luck, even thought I told them they never sent a replacement.Ebay said too bad. Funny I spent 40 on the drive and their first response in January was they offered a 10 dollar refund on the non working drive I spent 40 on.

2020-04-22 16:45:18 +0000 UTCI guess as much. I bought some items from Aliexpress where the measurement wasn't quite correct (had included the length of something, but shouldn't have) and within the time to answer my question I had a refund appropriate to the length I was missing and the listing updated. I've had the opposite on eBay where they suggest a miniscule partial refund and if you do win your case the listing doesn't get taken down or updated. If it's a mission critical part I get confirmation about details from the seller before ordering (even though it's guaranteed you'll get your money back if a SNAD case goes in).

2020-04-22 16:19:30 +0000 UTCe-Bay seem to look sympathetically on any "not as description" claims from actual buyers of the product (I've had instant refunds) but not to the listing being reported. I'd guess a lot of dodgy sellers report legitimate (and not-so) rivals to get them removed, so I don't think eBay place very much weight on it?

2020-04-22 15:45:58 +0000 UTCIt really makes me angry that eBay don't do more to stop sellers selling fake items like these lamps. Their 'Report Item' features three drop down boxes, the 1st allows you to pick 'Listing Practices', the 2nd 'Item Description' - good so far - then the 3rd only allows 'Profanity, obscenity, and vulgar language or 'Publish contact information'. So utterly useless if you want to report the item description is incorrect/false etc. Still I guess eBay make a lot of money out of it so what do they care.

2020-04-22 15:39:37 +0000 UTCHilarious. Surprised the seller is defending the product, normally these Chinese sellers will immediately give you a refund so they stay out of trouble with eBay. Thought they'd be more careful with the extra scrutiny in relation to products sold related to COVID19.
