Pre-stream technical adjustments.

The lighting was way too bright for the stream, so I've fixed that.

As a bonus, the light is going to last a lot longer now the LEDs and driver are running at a third of the original power.

You can, but it's a bit harder if they're covered in the protective goo. You need to preheat the panel, which can be done by powering it for a while to warm it up before turning it off and immediately moving in with your soldering iron to adjust the resistors. If there are two resistors in parallel you can remove one from the circuit just by scraping a channel through its carbon film.

Do you think it’s possible to do the same thing on the mains powered cobs? I remember you adding a capacitor to one, I’ll have to watch that one again.

Cool hack, Clive. Imagine could use a potentiometer sense resistor, to adjust brightness, as well. Or, something a bit more fancy. Use several sense resistors. To make a light bar, dance through different brightnesses. Through traditional electronics or buy a Arduino bored.

Well that was three hours of fun. Cheers Clive. One thing that the light did emphasise to me at least, your beard 'sills' are developing nicely - are you going the full ZZ Top? Also, I take it that the extra candle was to help with the exposure levels and you weren't contemplating kicking things off with a hymn?

6-7W (of LEDs) is quite a good amount as a fill light (for filming) versus the area illumination strip light it clearly started out being. Ewen

So it’s not just software where (sometimes) things are improved by deleting something :-) Ewen

1.6 down to 3.6 is 1.2 F stops. Should be fine. I did hear a story about a BBC researcher who tried to use dB-Ohms extensively in a report but tied himself in knots due to the voltage/power issue.

Mike Page

It was. The higher value resistor is just fine tuning the main one that I desoldered.

As predicted i did my yard work and am hurting... time for drink!

According to my phone app (Electrodroid), you went from 1.08 ohms to 3.6 ohms. Quite the jump!

Mike Bird

Omg lol never heard that one 😂😂. Keep it real Clive ❤️❤️

Cerity

Liberating pallid honkies from dominant resistors everywhere. Thank you.
