Not a video. Resin encapsulated neon fairy lights.

If I have to be honest, these are not as bright as the picture shows, but not bad in a dark room.

It's two styles of custom 3D printed lights with a closed tube that allows a neon lamp and resistor (or two resistors) to be potted into resin.  That kinda makes them weatherproof, although the work of trying to pot them was made harder because I didn't use a disposable syringe to inject the resin.  It was also tricky to keep the lamps in position while the resin cured.

The result is a one-off 5 lamp string of orange, green and blue neon lamps that are powered directly from the mains supply.

The inspiration for this experiment was a rare vintage set of neon globe Christmas lamps from 1945 (Sylvania fluorescent lamps) that were also extremely dim.

Not sure if I'll make a video about these as it was really just an experiment.

Vintage Xmas lamps often command a very high price as there are a lot of collectors. Especially the rarer figural shaped-glass lamps. And they don't even have to be working. (The true geeks have ways or retrofitting new lamps inside them.)

Just the string of sleeved red, green and blue neons looks great.

I wish I remember what kind of old christmas lights a friend found years ago. A string of small round glass globes is all i remember but she sold the bulbs 1 by 1 on ebay for $10 a piece! Now I know what to do with a bag full of syringes I've been saving, I was thinking syringe style flash lights but resin squirter is more likely in my future when I'm done mainlining antibiotics this month.

I have reproduction strings of c9 bubble lamps and have always liked the vintage stuff. I would like to hear your comments on video about your florescent faux lights.

Oh thanks for reminding me about the bag of neon lamps in three colors that I haven't done anything with...I really should

I really like the idea of using colored neon indicator bulbs instead of normal incandescent bulbs or LEDs. Would definitely be interested in a video if not to much of a hassle. The shimmering neon effect makes them even better.

That used to be a very common style in Europe.

it’s perfect for christmas ornaments, sorta lacking in the color options though

look at printing with t-glaze.

Nice, Clive! The neon lamps look great. My wife owns an antique store and it's interesting to see the vintage Christmas, often electric, decor her buyers occasionally find. I have a couple of vintage light sets I've kept and I'm now inspired to dig them out and have another look.

Have you seen this, Clive? Diodegonewild’s video of some old and in my opinion rather classy Xmas lights. https://youtu.be/ej1sCywCpvM

please make a video

Well, it's okay to not make a vid. You learned something and informed us; if I wanted to try to replicate, I think you've given me enough info. But you've actually relieved me of any interest in that bucket.

Those fluorescent strings are really something, pity they're long, long no longer made. Had to be amazingly expensive to make them, though.
