The storm was comparable to a typical storm on the Isle of Man. It was nice to see snow again though.

2020-02-12 08:07:02 +0000 UTCHalogen lighting was always a welcome source of heat on sites (except when they got dragged over and burned stuff). I wonder if their use to heat food was the inspiration for halogen hobs.

2020-02-12 07:39:29 +0000 UTCJust watched your live stream ( sorry I was late) Your talk at the start about the heat coming off the halogen lamp above your head reminds me of working on very cold buildings with my dad ( he was a sparky) this was way before the led revolution, and lead lamps were part of life. Usually with a 100w build that although bright, cast shadows where ever you tried to work. In my dad's arsenal of lamps, he had a massive halogen lamp. If memory serves me right it was off the side of a farm building ( they used it in the mornings to light up the yard) it was either 750 or 1000w and the heat it produced was lovely. We used to run it on a step ladder pointing down. Not only did it give us light at breaktimes but also a way of heating pies and pasties.
