I have amassed quite a collection of Meccano over the past few years, as I loved playing with it as a kid in the 60's - it comes in handy at times.

Mike Hughes

The motor itself looks good! I've got a replacement drive chip so I'll try that next, thanks 🙂

I've just recorded a video about that. They're very cheap to buy on eBay.

Big Clive

I had lego and metal meccano to play with. The meccano was my dad's though, and he didn't like others playing with it.

Big Clive

Have you got a different stepper motor to try? Prime suspects are often the motor drive chip, current sense resistor or an issue with the wiring loom. Symptoms may include aweka motor or excessive jittering if a phase is missing.

It costs money to store and deliver the video content, so that's not surprising. The BBC does NOT like YouTube. More and better content without censorship....

Will you make a video about the "neon" stars? I got exactly one with incandescent micro bulbs on 220V and would like a new USB one in pink.

Simon Mikkelsen

Lol this is probably more true 😂 BC probably was always taking apart tools not toys. Did you always have a fascination with lighting apparatus ❓

Cerity

Clive i don't know if this was asked before, but did you play with Lego or Erector or any of the other techno-creative toys as a child or did you start right at taking vacuum cleaners apart?

Michael Thompson

Cheers Clive! I was wondering what steps you would take to diagnose a very weak stepper motor? (The one I'm dealing with can't even turn a gobo wheel smoothly)

That’s a nice homey pond 👍 very cool layout BC

You can ask questions here.

Big Clive

It does have a drain. Two sluice gates that allow it to be drained or filled from the sea.

Big Clive

until the drain opens :-)

Clive, how about reverse engineering your resistance box, 3D printed case etc ?

That's not a stream, it's a pond!! :-)))

Stephen Eyles

Where do we submit questions/talking points for the stream?

Have you seen this, Clive? https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-55016142

I got a 3D printer this week, and Clive's right: you can never whoofle just once :-)

Paul Slootman

I might be able to pop in. We'll be at the in laws this weekend
