Gallium MKII (by popular request)

In hindsight I should have considered including both through-hole and surface mount resistor options on the original design.

It's clear that many still prefer through-hole components (and i don't blame you).

The MKII files have just been sent to JLC (not a sponsor) for manufacture and include an option for traditional chunky quarter watt resistors and more generous pads for hand soldering of the SMD resistors.

I'll be sending some of these PCBs out to random Patreon supporters when they arrive.

If I end up putting them in my online shop (which really needs updated) I'll maybe put up both versions, as the earlier surface mount only version has a very minimalist front screen print whereas the new version has the resistor positions marked on it.

I'm actually looking forward to this batch arriving and building it with ordinary through hole resistors.

Would be interested in building one. Through-hole would be my preference. Definitely let us know when you have them available.

Looks brill I may be making my way to you shop there by the looks of things at some point in the future

Would definitely do the threw hole! But yes please sell them

Really excited for this. It's so simple yet so effective. Looks really therapeutic to build too

I may have mentioned this, but I've seen a dual mode resistor footprint for SMD resistors and through hole ones. It fits the SMD pads between the through holes, right under where the ceramic through hole body would lie. Makes it difficult to use the resistors to jump over other traces, though.

I have the same intention as Michael Hughes, so please do put them up for sale. I would like 2 at least, please.

I think my chances of success with this would be much higher than the SMD version. Consider me interested!

Clive, you are wonderful. Thank you :)

I have had circuit boards from Clive and they are really well made and a pleasure to work with.

I really wanna buy some of thee!

I will certainly buy one if you put them up for sale. With Slow multicolour changilng led's it will be great fun to do.

Mike Hughes

I'm already thinking of where a suitable place to display it would be.

Love these projects

Michael Thompson

I always loved these little projects, just random ideas from a very expansive mind

I like the retro look and feel of www.bigclive.com and as you say quicker to load as well.

John Russell

Would rlly like to buy from shop!

I hope you do put them in your shop.

Neil Tonks

Interested, maybe I can build something that doesn't blow up for once.

That’s great news .

Can't wait

“Well, isn't that special?” –The Church Lady (SNL) BC, yew b Dee best! (Sorry that the lockdown has made you so crazy, but hey, we love it when you get in these moods!)

Big Clive

Can you give an early shout out to us on Patreon when you put them up for sale in your shop :D

John Carr
