PCB Gerber files.
Added 2020-07-02 04:52:10 +0000 UTCA couple of the PCB Gerber files are now available to download from my website at:-
http://www.bigclive.com/freebies.htm
But initially the zipped file for the huge A4 sized version will only be available at this link:-
http://www.bigclive.com/A4%20Gallium.zip
It might be a good idea to wait until I've tested the design before getting some made.
The zip files at those links can be uploaded directly as a complete file to PCB makers like JLC, and on some sites will automatically show a representation of the PCB and fill in all the fields automatically.

Slow fade RGB LEDs work really well... Quite soothing :)

2020-07-24 15:57:22 +0000 UTCThink I will put in an order with JLC, but for now I made a micro version using red/blue and red/green LEDs! Here are a couple of pics and short video : https://photos.app.goo.gl/irwNEnLqX2yT61yx7 I used water clear LEDs so needed to cover it with tape to tone it down
2020-07-24 09:45:12 +0000 UTCPut two PCBs together today, one with blue flashing LEDs and one with RGB slow flash, very satifying - quite bright. Interrupted by the mains going out, tracked, I thought, to a lamp, looks like it's the freezer.

2020-07-17 21:53:27 +0000 UTCThey must be reshipping from the UK. I got a batch today too.

2020-07-17 20:35:53 +0000 UTCBoards arrived today (from a UK address?). Well packed and with a free roll of tape.

2020-07-17 11:26:58 +0000 UTCJust ordered my PCB's, LED's and resistors. Think it may be wise to order some spare tips for my soldering iron too....

2020-07-17 09:42:02 +0000 UTCThe 2 for a quid Poundland ones are a tad too small lengthwise, so might pop to the range and look for a decent couple or five.

2020-07-14 14:46:48 +0000 UTCGot my PCB's today. JLCPCB must have noticed a surge in orders for theses boards !!! Cheers Clive. ;)

2020-07-14 14:45:10 +0000 UTCThe Range (sort of a Walmart-type department store place - for non-UK people) have decent frames at £1.39 and £1.79.

2020-07-13 13:46:38 +0000 UTCI don't like doing sponsorships. Some companies have quite aggressive marketing departments.

2020-07-10 02:45:21 +0000 UTCDumb question, I've never ordered PCBs before. Do you just send the whole zip file or its contents to JLCPCB?
Kevin Hardisty
2020-07-09 00:51:21 +0000 UTCi got the PCBs already. Too bad the LEDs won't get here till mid August.
2020-07-06 23:37:03 +0000 UTCAnd apparently they've shipped and are due by the 13th. That was quick.
Roland Roberts
2020-07-06 22:55:54 +0000 UTCOrdered 10 of the Gallium PCBs from JLCPCB, came to £20.86 for shipping to the UK. Now to hunt down the frames and USB cables.

2020-07-06 10:19:37 +0000 UTCYou don't have some affilation with JCLPCB. It would be great to give you something in return for your effort. Or order more boards and sell them at your webshop? I can source the components myself.
2020-07-06 01:00:07 +0000 UTCI ordered 1000 flashing blues for $22 on eBay. Item number 382296637123 they still have stock.
Jim
2020-07-05 13:29:21 +0000 UTCOrdered 5 of the smaller boards from jlc, and with DHL, they'll get here... At some point. Thanks for making those available!
Roland Roberts
2020-07-03 20:41:54 +0000 UTCNo flashing blue led's available anywhere on ebay as Big Clive fans have bought them all!! (thought I'd bought some) but eventually found some on Ali express $5.40 for 200 pcs- first time I have used Ali Express so have to wait and see now.

2020-07-03 15:56:06 +0000 UTCThink I'll stick with poundland fodder for the family and friends. Big Clive boards are far too precious for loved ones........
2020-07-03 15:04:15 +0000 UTCThanks Clive, just ordered 10 from JLCPCB, worked out at £20.95 for them shipped to the UK, so pretty good. I think I've just found what I'm going to be giving as xmas presents this year :-)
2020-07-03 11:58:39 +0000 UTCA short YouTube video might be a good way to share them.
Big Clive
2020-07-03 06:55:32 +0000 UTCOrdered 5 of the USB version from JLC shortly after you posted this. My very first time ordering a PCB and I'm super excited! I also ordered 5 of the "clap switch" PCB's ( https://youtu.be/A8AGMWbSIPA ) by Electronics Projects - Stefano91ste. Only $2 more for 5 of those boards and I already have the components. Now I just need to decide what kind of LEDs I'm going to use.... I was thinking about making a Pride flag with one of them. Perfect number of rows for that. Also thinking about making a Danish flag for my dad. :D So many possibilities with this design. Is there a good way to share pictures or videos of our "makes" with you?

2020-07-03 04:44:46 +0000 UTCI've found the standard post to be pretty quick.
Big Clive
2020-07-03 04:30:29 +0000 UTCYou're right. I should have waited for the prototypes to arrive before putting the file up. I've taken that file back down and will post a note here mentioning the error.

2020-07-03 04:24:14 +0000 UTCClive, I was looking over the gerber for the disko shart 2 and noticed that when the link is made for the 230v, it just links the bottom string back to negative. Shouldnt there be an option to remove that link between the middle of the chain to negative when in 230v mode?
btSchmieds
2020-07-03 02:35:37 +0000 UTC5 ordered! Thankfully have an order in for about 1000 leds and 200 resistors. As I chose just the registered post option, the whole lot should arrive in Ireland sometime next year :D Thanks for the file upload Uncle Clive :)
John Carr
2020-07-03 02:31:23 +0000 UTCIt'll be interesting to see if the PCB makers detect a sudden surge with the same files.
Big Clive
2020-07-03 01:38:36 +0000 UTCThanks Clive, if anyone has ordered spare I’ll buy them, don’t have a computer pay via PAYPAL
Mike
2020-07-02 23:11:14 +0000 UTCThose alternating LEDs look good. They're usually available in red/green and red/blue.
Big Clive
2020-07-02 20:32:57 +0000 UTCI searched eBay for 1.5hz LEDs and found there is a "red/blue police car chase" version, would it be completely mental to use those instead? 🤔
2020-07-02 19:42:25 +0000 UTCI would like one, let me know when they arrive, I will send you some monies via PayPal, just let me know a total including postage for a single board 👍
2020-07-02 19:36:37 +0000 UTCDid you check out all the options? The "already" ticked box is the most expensive, (DHL express!!!!) scroll down through the options. I got Royal Mail tracked for $6.42 US to the UK 15-20 days so have a double check.
Mike Hughes
2020-07-02 18:56:22 +0000 UTCJust ordered 10. Looking forward to the release of the A4 one

2020-07-02 17:40:56 +0000 UTCThanks for the upload. However USD24.90 for the boards (good), but a rich US$24 to post by the cheapest service. Australia, the lucky country! Not. I noticed even Banggood are charging extortionate prices to post anything here too.

2020-07-02 15:06:53 +0000 UTCThank you Clive - much appreciated.
2020-07-02 14:02:33 +0000 UTCJust ordered mine from jlcpcb, Tip if you intend ordering-: Make sure you choose Royal Mail ($6.42 ) , otherwise it defaults to DHL Express= very expensive.
Mike Hughes
2020-07-02 11:26:45 +0000 UTCThanks Clive... Well I ordered minimum of 5 from jlcpcb - see how that goes - works out about 3 pound per board shipped to me. I probably will only use 2 so may have spares if anyone UK is interested (when/if they arrive that is)
2020-07-02 10:08:49 +0000 UTCClive that is very kind of you. Thank you
2020-07-02 10:06:38 +0000 UTCThat's fantastic - thanks Clive, much appreciated.
