Hacking a stinky pink ring.

I filmed this video at a ridiculous time (about 6am) when the previous video subject turned out to be very time consuming due to a construction that is trying to be Clive-proof.  (I will defeat it!)

https://youtu.be/cvXWr8FV51s

It's a badly designed ozone generating ring that I modify at the end of the video to just run on an elevated voltage for better functionality.

You could 3d print a new enclosure that lets the air flow better.

I'd be interested in you taking a look at the ozone generators used to sanitise CPAP machines. I have a cheap(ish) one from eBay (search for CPAP + ozone). A quick look inside shows it to be fairly well designed (to my estimation, you may spot something terrible). It has a little fan to waft the ozone through your CPAP machine rather than relying on the natural ion movement.

AlfaGuy

A tiny bit higher, but not significant.

Just one microPaul. ( 1 uPaul)

What's the current consumption when running it on 5v? Will it drain the power supply quickly?

Paul Schuur

how many Pauls of flux did you use??

Aaron Nadler

If anyone wants them... https://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-12V-Ozone-Generator-Machine-Air-Purifier-Odor-Deodorizer-Sterilizer-50m-Hc/193570194701?hash=item2d11aec50d:g:IZwAAOSwLQ5e~v3A

You can't beat a bit of Ozone Clive. It helps plug those holes we have made in the ozone layer.

Jeremy Travis

I bought two 12v Ozone Generator units off flea bay over the weekend- they are the ceramic plate ones @ $3.98 each.

Mike Hughes

Design over functionality. Wow I never saw that before. Petty as I actually do like the doughnut design.

Zeedijk Mike

Um given the ozone removes odors it depends on the output. Due to the volume of flies i use a repeating bag of egg solids to trap then drown them. Thereโ€™s a low profile wasp dunker. Carnivores like grilled chicken but canโ€™t swim on soapy water surface tension.

Cerity

Would these things work to keep odors (and flies?) away from a garbage can...? Might be worth a try.

Paul Schuur

A bigger concern is people putting lithium cells out in direct high energy sunlight.

Big Clive

I guess you could just alternate 18650s and recharge; better than the original.

Like Duncan said, drill some holes in the case so air can circulate.

Dennis Smith

5volts Spicy!! love that ozone

William Nimmo

Guanjo Jing Young is a catchy name, in China :)

When you pointed at the removed charge controller I thought it was a black spot on the photograph, lol. Was wondering why you were pointing there

Nani Isobel

Did you drill some holes in the case below the generator to allow a positive air flow , also was interesting what you said about lithium batteries at low temp as Iโ€™ve seen people building solar panel storage power banks out of multiple lithium cells and positioning them in out building , guess they might have problems in winter

I save videos like this for moments when I can savor them, like... some savoring, uh thing.

Michael Thompson

I bet loads of those get thrown out or returned due to contacts, neat device though.

Stinking pink ring making a pop noise. I can relate. Although, it doesn't create ozone, it creates a no-go zone.

evilution

Would it also work with a mot? ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

What is there a pandemic on going? Where?

I had a TV that used to click and I found a cracked solder point on one of the transistors that was heating up and making connection, then cooling down and breaking the connection, at a notably very rapid pace. A dab with the solder iron and it solved the problem.

Clive Mitchell, you are the only person I know that manages to make electronics smutty! ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ™Š
