Any questions for during our radium party?

Not a question but I know you like hot dogs and play the keyboard so someone has combined the two...... :D https://www.classicfm.com/discover-music/instruments/piano/german-youtuber-sausage-keyboard/?fbclid=IwAR0ZIjwfV173MnmMR0MWpekgJePeCYmsPinUGRIOYQnugcI6i-3q4EDoInI

Ever tried 'Port Tonic', i.e. tonic water with (e.g. white) port? I know you like gin tonic and have also mentioned rum tonic. And now radium tonic... ;-)

Hagen

Why do halogen lamp (12V) transformers sometimes just 'turn off' some time after turning on the lights, and when you power cycle (off-on), most of the time they immediately work again? Had this now four times at different places - sometimes the 'involuntary auto-turn-off at first only happened in very large intervals (weeks or months) then got more frequent over time. Is this a sign of electrolytic capacitors going bad after a couple of years, or a worn-out coil?

Hagen

No sure if it’s a worthy question for the live stream, but I just got the labeller you reviewed recently and wanted to ask out of the knock off cartridges, which brand seems to be the most consistent and near the quality of the original brother ones?

BytesGuy

have you ever done any residential electrical work?

Eric Latour

Are you planning anything big for the HVAC 50th episode to blow the guys and their viewers away ? Can't wait !

Will the "illuminated skip cap" make an appearance? I'd like to see the slow color changers you have get installed in that to see how the effect looks.

Michael Thompson

"One moment please..." Any one says that now and my hand twitches towards my glass...

Michael Thompson

For 'in device' circuit protection it should not make a difference if you protect the live- or neutral conductor. For 'installation' circuit protection, domestic or industrial, usually the neutral conductor has no protection but the live (phase) conductors have fuses. The idea behind this is that the neutral conductor is referenced to ground and therefore considered somewhat safe(r) compared to a live conductor.

Question How did you get into the whole video teardown thing? Was it an interesting experiment or did you enter it as a way to make additional income ? Or something else ? TIA, Robert

Robert

I actually drank some on last week's stream.

Big Clive

Did you ever build any 70's Practical & Everyday electronics LED Veroboard 'Wheel of fortune' 'Shoot games' ?

Andrew Donaldson

Have you seen Julians latest Postbag video. Looks like he's going to bootleg the Gallium but on perfboard! Any thoughts? Should we pay him a visit? :D :D Serious question time. Are you a reader? Do you have any favourite authors or books? I'm a bookworm since childhood - all presents when myself and brother were young were books as our parents were avid readers.

John Carr

Are you aware that there is a drinking game going on? Every time you leave the room to get something (e.g. from your kitchen) we have to drink ;-)

That is how "Bakers Fluid" aka "Killed spirits was made by tinsmiths for use as a flux before rosin became widely available. Made some myself back in the 80's while working in Edinburgh as a sheetmetalworker/tinsmith, when we ran out of proper branded Bakers fluid. It Stank to high heaven, so we went to the pub next door while it worked away.!!

Mike Hughes

Lol, these are good questions, but it's also a funny post! I mean you only the best and absolutely no disrespect.

Clive, Many years ago, at school, we used to make Hydrogen bubbles about the size of a tennis ball. The Hydrogen was made using Zinc and Hydrochloric acid, the bubbles were just soapy water. I can’t remember how the bubbles were formed, but when lit, Mmm it was great fun exploding with a nice “POP” and a small amount of rain coming down. Could you recreate this?

A question - have you tried drinking the radium Gin?

Nuts 'n' Proud

The netting provides scaffolding for the LED wires❓ or are you putting bean netting at mains voltage ⁉️

Cerity

Julian is planning a giant Gallium panel using that perforated hardboard called Peg Board, probably 8 X 4 feet lol I suggest using poundland Pea and Bean netting with a 4 inch grid and hang it from a building or something. How about hanging it from the Laxey wheel at xmas :)

The "Not A Flamethrower"

If a circuit uses a zener diode to limit the voltage so that if the voltage on a line passes the zener voktage threshold, the diode will shunt power to ground until the voltage drops below the threshold. Is this as inefficient as it sounds? And is the zener at risk of wearing out due to exeended use?

Jeremy Impson

Hi Clive saw this on Facebook, and as you are the UVC King ;-) I wonder if you thought it was genuine and would work before spending my hard earned money https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/umsystems/uvmask-inactivate-9999-of-all-pathogens-and-air-pollutants?ref=afqwmm&utm_source=smm&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=shop%20now%20button

A good tutorial here. http://www.bristolwatch.com/ele/neon.htm

Expanding on the Q&A last week about AC polarity, and that the side connected to the transformer outside is considered the 'Live' side does this have any bearing on the correct placement of the power switch and input fuses, I only ask as I just watched a you tube video on someone who did a seemingly over complicated mod to a Yihua 826D+ soldering station to swap the switch & fuse over from neutral to live. Should it be something to watch for and correct or this just a North American thing?

Anita Davis

I got a few: - would you mind to give your opinion on the chinese T12 soldering irons (possibly in the future)? - what are the necessary pnp/npn bjt and mosfets for makers (3.3v/5v/12v) -what would be your essential components as a recommendation for makers - what is your cad software of choice for making schematics and layouts and why? Beard: - is a mustache better cut or grown for a goatee? - how would you describe the form of your goatee on the underside of the face? Ps: thank you for all you do and we all enjoy so much!

Although not a question to ask live, it's a question non the less. Will you do more basics videos? There are a few on your YouTube channel, that's how I learnt to solder, but (for arguments sake) capacitors, different types, different values, different applications. Why choose one type over another etc etc. I'm sure someone will point out you have already done it, but I think an up-to-date one would be great.

Neil Tonks

I don't know if ill be able to make this one, but I wish I could!

Michael Thompson

Three phase isn’t default 207 V or whatnot requires different power hookups. That’s mostly for commercial due to smaller wiring for equivalent KIloWatt usage. US residential is a split 240 which is great but no neutral. Resistive loads work equal but some electrics don’t like the 50 vs 60 Hz of an overseas unit.

Cerity

Obviously minge the mirceless should mandate indoctrination ❤️

Cerity

If you were dictator of the world what is the first thing you would change?

Mark Trombley

What value resistor would you recommend for extending the life of a NE2 neon lamp on 120 volt power?

Kevin Hardisty

Why don't capacitive droppers generate heat like a resistor would?

Kevin Hardisty

Since I heard you mention South Main Auto a few times and have been doing my own car work partly out of boredom my Q is: Do you do your own maintenance and occasional bit of work on your car/van or just send it to a mechanic? (there's some I do because it's cheap/easy and other stuff I pay for, eg wheel bearing or new tires)

Ooh, I have a question: I have a nasty habit of necking a bottle of wine before 9pm, and then falling asleep during the livestream. You don't mind, do you?

Steven Raith

what about strontium 90? just curious Thank you

William Nimmo

If you drink it does your pee glow too?

Moz in Oz

Is a fluorescein-tinted liquid still active after going through an ultrasonic mister? Can you make a glowing fog?

Could you add the radium to your homemade beard oil to make a fluorescent beard? Or would it just make a horrible green potentially-anaphylaxis-inducing mess?

odd question, but if for reasons you had to go on a low carb diet, what snacks come to mind?

Will My balls hang low ? when I drink the Radium flo- will I tie them in a knot, ... and expect electron flow,.. . Will I ask big Clive if he'll let me down below..... and he will respond "So As long as you will give a blow!!"

Mike Hughes

Aye... I shall sing an old Isle of Man Shanty, when it was owned by the Russians... "

Mike Hughes

Have you ever used a dim bulb tester like the amplifier guys Mr. Carlson or D-Labs. I'm pretty sure Electroboom doesn't use one.

Jim

Do you ever have a hard time with motivation to do something?

Elliott Krimchansky

I got my PIR mobile in the post thank you. My questions therefore is, why are you so nice? Can you please be my cool uncle? ☺️

three faces power in America can you explain please Do They have the same thing out in the street and over head lines

Asko Appliances: I own a clothes washer and dryer as well as a dishwasher. What sort of reputation does Asko have over your side of the world? Because I seem to be constantly repairing their terrible electrics and wiring. More of those all to in vogue cost effective engineering design's???

Mustafa's Fleas

As the Saturday night streams are now becoming a regular thing. Are you going to continue with them? as it's a nice way to chill out on a Saturday evening.

Hi Clive, I’m currently building a Variac enclosure with two single gang sockets(1 fed from Variac and other straight thru 240v) and a power meter. I’ve seen some vids suggesting using mcb protection on the Variac output side? Can you please tell what you think and what kind of mcb should I use? It’s a 10 amp panel mount Variac btw. Would really appreciate some advice xx Thanks

Photon Phil

Did Elon Musk's 'Flamethrower' inspire you to build your 'Whoosher'?

Andrew Donaldson

What is your final decision on putting the making video online? What was your way of thinking to create the final decision?

Peter Stimpel

Will it make your piss fluoresce under UV light 💡??? How harmful do you think 🤔 it might be to say your bladder??? Will your tongue 👅 fluoresce after drinking it??? How radioactive ☢️ will your piss be on a Geiger-counter??? Do you think it might have any negative effects on your testicles and 🖊is???
