Slightly rambly opening of an ozone alarm

This unit is designed to monitor, log and sound an alarm if the ambient area exceeds a preset ozone level.  I guess it's intended for monitoring in factories.

Neat enough, but very clearly cobbled together from a unit designed for different sensors.

Very much looking forward to your future designs for an ambient ozone monitor.

John Salt

They are the 12v ones potted in a case 40x20x20mm, two thick white silicon wires going to a dielectric ,soldered either side and quite a long lead to the input- about 18" and a connector to go on a circuit board, so I suspect these were made to go into a module of some sort. Works fine- stinks of bleach!!

Mike Hughes

Are they small battery operated ones?

Big Clive

I get the feeling that any creature would find you a nice human to befriend. Glad you've got a new feathered friend.

Big Clive

Sorry. I sometimes go a bit hyper while making a video.

Would be good to put in a box with the pink doughnut and see if it even works as it was built. Then try with holes drilled in it.

I just received two ozone generators today- looking very much like the same module as is used on the ionisers from China!! haha!

They did a Butcher job on removing the plastic, how did they do that, and the Thunder would go along with the Lightning.. Your D&S are Different, not sure I like the 30 dollar a bottle of Bitters. Makes the drink a little "Hot". I think we got used to the pure column (no taste) stuff. The "Black" rum is a little Rough. I like the ginger beer, I'm going to add some of the no taste 120 proof, and some Cherry Juice. (Let you know) Have a new Goffin, He is a lover, sleeps with me, and has already learned to use the "Potty" Loves to snuggle (Odd) It takes the edge off the loss of Woody. Keep up the good work, You're the best!.

Thanks for the video. There was a problem in the UK in 2007 where somebody accidentally added silicone based additive (for diesel) to petrol tank at a fuel depot in Essex UK. It caused damage to lambda (oxygen) sensors in many petrol vehicles. Here's a page about it --> https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/motoring/tainted-fuel-contains-silicon

Nuts 'n' Proud

With all the cautions about the ozone sensor, I wonder if the fumes from the fly spray, whoosher or 3D printed flame maker damaged the ozone sensor in the instrument featured in Saturday's live stream. I recently bought a cheap PM2.5 meter and so far it's been great amusement whenever my Dad makes pancakes or burgers, seeing how high it goes, even the kids watch it. He already mixed it out at 999 a few times, so doubt an ozone sensor would last long in our house.

They probably just bought the case and cobbled their own boards onto it, maybe using surplus boards from somebody who folded since the website printed on the sensor board was dead.

It's a Scottish thing, we all do it!

My question is could this unit be a nock off of something that has 4 different sensors? Or instead of having multiple molds just use one and alter as needed.

I remember installing a gas monitoring system in a nursing home laundry for tumble dryers in the early '80s It was to electrically shut off the LPG gas solenoid valve in case of a leak, the sensors weer fitted about 30cm from the floor (as you couldn't smell it at human hight and cost +£1000. How technology has changed, probably do it with an arduino nowadays! Interesting video....

Youtube lets you slow down the video if that suits you.

Kate Cole

I find it very difficult understanding what he says. He talks too fast for me. Somebody should tell him to slow it down for us old timers (I'm 75).

This one is very much designed for Chinese factory workers. It's just a basic box-ticking unit.

Big Clive

that void around the micro USB looks like it's sized for a full size usb-a port

Drachnien

I always end up wanting the case more than whats in it !

Drachnien

Oh THAT old thing...

Michael Thompson

That looks very cheaply made, we carry industrial gas monitors on a daily basis with our job, they are Crowcon Tetra 3 units very expensive rubberised designed to be thrown and still work. They alarm out for flammable gas, H2S ( hydrogen sulphide ) methane, low O2, high CO2 etc. They are calibrated regular.

Nice
