More shameless clickbait - redistilling Jagermeister

I clearly have no scruples.

But to be fair - distilling Jagermeister did yield interesting results.

More shameless clickbait - redistilling Jagermeister

Clive - Slimline Jäegar? Potential name?

I think the intention is a bit more serious than a tv license, from the wording on the gov guidance it's mostly about excise and domestic duty, also preventing small scale distilling (less than 18 hectolitres?) But the wording of the guidance is focused on production, it seems that the govt wants to ensure moonshine level stills are illegal, they prosecute hard on these but nothing in the wording talks about individual consumption, pretty sure they didn't expect a Youtuber to split duty paid spirits for entertainment purposes! There is a rectifiers licence which is for redistilling or compounding spirits but again the application process is for trade, I don't think they would even accept an application from an individual. The only issue is how popular the channel is now, it's conceivable they might contact you if they think you might popularise air stilling. One other consideration is the alcohol content of the separated spirit, it is likely to be higher than the bottle label, there could be a safety concern there in some cases. I know you don't care about a fine but don't get the channel taken down! 🤣

The Tinkering Shed

I'll soon find out. It's here in the cupboard.

Big Clive

Technically speaking it is kinda illegal, in the sense that they employ TV Licence type scaremongering tactics to try and dissuade people from daring to make alcohol without them getting their financial cut. Fortunately my respect for officialdom has greatly reduced over my lifetime.

Big Clive

Clive's Family were Left Speechless When They Realised What He'd Done.

CrouchingTigerHiddenAdam

Does it still run deep though?

Mike Hanley

What would you get if you put a bottle of baileys style liqueur through the evaporator?

The Tinkering Shed

I think you could describe it as separating the components rather than distilling as such so I imagine it would be legal

Edward Parker

Oh!! That would never do!!! lol

Mike Hughes

You'd get half flavour Jagermeister.

Big Clive

They did. Well most of them did. I'm awaiting the last 1000, plus another thousand blue/red alternating.

Big Clive

I like to throw a soy face in from time to time to see what happens.

Big Clive

I think they'd have a lot of trouble claiming it was illegal, as all the alcohol involved has been legitimately purchaced with all applied duties. I don't think that changing it after that would be any worse than say, filterring it through your liver and kidneys and changeing it that way! Now, I seem to recall a vid by, I think, Clive years back, of distilling Listerine!!! I'll have to hunt that one down, been a while!

William Taylor

I'd be inclined to think much of that would come in in the tails, the last water before the still dries right out and shuts off.

William Taylor

Is it illegal? It was officially drinkable alcohol before, and all the taxes have been paid already.

MrTridac

I'm really enjoying these experiments. The fact that it's technically illegal just makes it more interesting. So many possibilities.

Matt Tester

I was thinking the same thing.

If you separate out the heads during distillation, will you get a more pure alcohol? And when you mix the after-sludge with the vodka, if you were to throw in those heads, would it taste more like Jagermeister?

Circuitmike

Mix the two together, and maybe you will have two bottles of nearly Jagermeister for half the price!

Mike Hughes

You are going to start a trend of hacking liqueur! lol

Matt Larson

You definitely win at thumbnails!

Michael Dunn

Haha I wonder who the target for click bait is? Please continue

Simon Deards VK3FSPD

Are we going to be Jagerminioning this evening the new bitter Jager? Or alternating with the bye product?

Jim

I will excuse the classless thumbnail because the content in both of this videos was quite good, and different from your usual.

Michael Gilchrest

Now carbonate the result?

Elliott Krimchansky

What a great time! Awesome

Michael Thompson

Just paying the bills...

Bill Kerr

Love the Ralfie send-ups

Ian Cooper

After the Jägermeister people carefully blended it.. A bit of a shame. On the other hand, now we don’t have to. Thanks, Clive.

Karl Langeveld

Jager Lite…

Lostngone

Coil B

Jager fanbois be jumping up and down now...

Mike Wynne

You need to get an ultrasonic humidifier so you can make a Jager-mister.

Mark Trombley
