Side glow fibre/fiber optic

This stuff has never been very impressive.  It's a lossy fibre optic material that emits light along its length when illuminated at the end.

Maybe this is just poor quality stuff, but it pretty much matches my previous experiences with it.

I always like to think about the creative side of things that they can be used for, perhaps letters on a sign where you need that gradual trailing out to give a certain effect. Everything has its place and has its uses always be creative with something and I like to keep a lot of things in the back of my head for when a situation might come up or an effect I need to achieve

Have you ever tried experimenting with clear aquarium air tubing filling it with the mixture of fluorescence from a highlighter and water and having an uv-led at both ends I call it poor man's side glow fiber optic.

I tried with a laser during a live stream. It wasn't much better.

Might it perform better if you used one of those low power Laser diodes with built in collimating lens? Could try a Laser pointer

I've tried various thicknesses, from various different sellers, and it's always been about as lack-luster as this. I've tried sanding it progressively more, further from the light source, which helps a tiny bit. For very short spans, side-glow is ok. I haven't found success otherwise.

At least you have that great switch and the housing is nice
