LED path light

This is a rather neat little light for mounting on walls or posts to provide a wash of light at ground level.

Like most modern LED lights you can't change the lamp, but people like us can swap and repair the PCB.

Will do

Michael Thompson

It would be interesting to see the PCB.

I can send you photos if you like. I'm at work now but can do later

I din't think I've come across a cap dropper based one yet.

Big Clive

Not silicone, but polymer two part gel. And maybe a 100nF or 220nF capacitor to reduce the current a bit for even longer LED life.

Big Clive

Yes it is. Condensation central.

Going to watch this one at lunch today. I love that! We bought a couple of very inexpensive LED flame effect bulbs at Wal-Mart over the weekend. Only one mode and built entirely onto a rigid PCB containing the capacitive dropper and everything, slotted into the housing with a resistor connected to the center from the board. I am impressed as hell and want to use one in a solar lamp project! Clive, I would swear you did a video on one. I'll go search. Hmm...i may be thinking of the minimalist solar flame effect one.

Just what we need to provide safe passage in our garden to avoid any pet poop!

It’s a neat little unit, I do think outside I’d be tempted to drill a drain in it.

RDM

The amazing part of BC photo setup is his continuous feed printer using non branded non locked down ink cartridges

I think I'd be flooding that with silicone sealant, that seal wouldn't do anything against the Scottish weather.

The Tinkering Shed

The plastic lens gasket is perfect for holding the water in that leaks thru that crappy waterproof cable seal.

What do you use to take the pictures of the circuit boards? They seem too clear to be done by a hand held phone.

"People like us..." yeah! Wooo US!

I think this would be ideal to use with the dusk sensor reviewed earlier. All mounted in an ip65 or better box.

Might be alright for a garage or shed inside or outside, for some steps perhaps. Could link it up with a pir to switch a few of them on. For DIYers at a cheap price you cant go wrong, not sure id like it installed professionally tho. You could even modify it and using it for say 12v, its a nice base to start with.
