Intriguing segmented diffraction disk

Sometimes a cheap lighting product appears that has a really radical twist on existing technology.  This is one of them.

I'm genuinely impressed by the effects that such a simple device can achieve.

I thought I was to only one thinking that

At least it’s not the five MW laser from real genius with 200 tons of popcorn 😭😂❤️

Cerity

In a neighborhood close to mine a house is using lasers for Christmas decorations to project on the trees and house but one projector is mis-adjusted so you catch a green beam when you are driving down the street. I was thinking of knocking on the door but I doubt they care or would do anything even if I tried to explain that it isn’t safe.

This really was an interesting item! Thanks, Clive!

The seals are for the seal of approval. Neat little projector .

Could I produce the same results using illuminating chopsticks?

I stopped short of ordering one, partially in an effort to control my impulse spending but also in an effort to retain my vision, which would surely be put at risk though my own stupidity...

Now you mention it, that hole does look the right size for a pair of 18650's.

kiddies, always wear laser safety goggles when clubbing

I do upload over 4G but it seems to ration the speed.

Big Clive

Usually just a couple, but it's very random.

The hole in the support bracket is rather interesting. Looking on eBay there appears to be versions that have (2) 18650 batteries on-board. Perfect to brace them.

Good video Clive, now waiting for the next one where you fit it with a battery.

It'd be good to have some motor control to slow the effects down a bit they transition fairly quickly. I pulled apart another version of this that had maybe 10 effects. It also had a plug for a blue laser on board.

Clive should upload over 4G, as that apparently can keep up with 720p during livestreams, so 1080p should upload at least at half speed. Or just get fibre already :)

I stayed up, but 10 hours is a bit much for that video length

Basti Elektronik

Looking fwd to this, but I;m intrigued - does it really take 10 hrs to upload these?
