I guess this is the Christmas video this year

It's a bit rough.  There are bits that should have been filmed, but weren't.  You've seen most of the other sections that this video links to.

Next time I'll try to be more thorough about filming more of the process.

I guess this is the Christmas video this year

Merry Christmas- a bit late for me. Heck it’s even a bit late to say Happy New year - but to each and one of you I still want to say cheers. Sadly I’ve been out of working order due to my damned back pains, so most of the holidays has been spent with my cat in my arms on the couch. Awesome setup. For next year I want to try to build one myself. And perhaps this year I will try to clean up my workbench to look as neat and tidy as Clives one. Mine tend to fill up with lots more projects that I end up having to pause because time runs away from me.

Clive, although the cura Q5 retract setting is 6.5mm, it does not retract very often, you could try setting it to "Retract on layer change". I found that reducing the print temperature to 195 stopped stringing, but then the layers do not bond correctly, this seems to indicate that it is a cooling problem rather than filament temperature issue. I have printed the cooling nozzle that Major Hardware uploaded to thingiverse and will be giving it a try. The base spreading that you mentioned is caused by the first layer being printed close to the base plate to give good adhesion, this causes it to spread :( When setting Z0 it should be clearance on the paper and not drag on it. There is also a setting in Cura to fix it, use the search box and start typing "elephants foot", the setting to tweek is SHELL > Initial layer expansion, try setting it to -0.2 as a start. Enabling Z lift may make stringing worse https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QRb54zVPfQ

I think I now understand why your reluctant to give us a shop tour lol

They look like science fiction.

First day of my apprenticeship I was working on the build of a new DC hall in Glengarnock steel works, where they were reinstalling old slate switchgear from other steelworks. In the middle of the room was the biggest mercury rectifier I've ever seen, but I didn't know what it was at that time. I was actually taught about mercury rectifiers at technical college, where they had one in a cabinet.

Big Clive

Hey Clive, YouTube suggested this video about mercury arc rectifiers, you might find it interesting: https://youtu.be/YhaQqgXrMMU

The weight gain started a year ago when I got my hernia operation. Lack of gym and boredom-eating caused a bit of gain.

Big Clive

Yeah, but they also PAT tested it and failed it. I had to send them a picture of my test and notes about the way to test it. (Aluminium is not a good surface to put a probe on.)

Big Clive

I left school thinking I was dim. I bought a bit of software for the ZX Spectrum computer that did an IQ test to see if I really was as thick as they had made me out to be. At the end it said my score was high and to contact Mensa. I did the full supervised test and got in.

Big Clive

MENSA? You are way too smart for me dude. Showing you my lamps made of industrial scrap is probably the equivalent of a child holding up a chewimg gum wrapper he's found on the sidewalk. I just got finished with the steam with Raphy LOL. I love these displays and the color the season brings. This is no exception! Well done!

PAT Tested too. Excellent!

Merry Christmas Clive. Also, Merry Christmas Technical Family. Hope Santa brought you some fun eBay tat to examine.

This is the closest we'll get to a house tour peeps! Hope you all had a nice day,

It appears that, like me, you have installed a bit of Covid Weight Gain. WE are going to have to fix that, aren't we???
