Inside the Dubai lamp.

Darn!  I've uploaded this to the wrong channel!

https://youtu.be/ctiZpBavUuc

I think there may be some nasty audio peaks in this video.  I'll have to investigate it.

The apps I use to process videos have been "updated", breaking the audio one in the process.

I have been waiting for this one as it proves you can make LED lights to last. We did a refit a Theatre / cinema which I visit as a patron as seen so many fail.

Brilliant video clive. I still am waiting for my shipment to arrive,

I've ordered some lamps to test an external addition.

Big Clive

Thats a nicely designed light. Should we all be hacking our bulbs to make them run more efficiently? (and is there some kind of chart that shows efficiency vs power)?

Raven Luni

Really informative video, many thanks!

Hagen

Clive, Id never heard of those before but beautifully engineered. And now that you've made us aware that 'Dubai' means super energy efficient, all your Chinese subscribers will be scurrying to design their own (fake) Dubai lamps with 4 times as many filaments and little else. Only a matter of time before Chinese eBay ads contain the phrase "As seen on BigClive"

Gordo

Classic BC. Brilliant. Echo ziatonic comments.

Probably. That would cause voltage dips.

Big Clive

Very nice video indeed! The regulation has something to do with the switching of the airconditioning I guess...is that plausible?

Mike Weijmans

I see that amazon.ae lists the Philips Dubai bulbs as sold by Amazon. I tried logging in just to see if they would ship them internationally. Instead of saying this cannot be dispatched to my location, Amazon hid the prices and showed "Temporary out of stock" on every model, yet shows "In stock" when I view the page incognito. I currently have 5 x 7W (60W equiv) Osram filament bulbs in a chandelier, two of which have recently blown.

Seán Byrne

BC's done it again! Saved me money. As on watching this I suddenly realised that I hadn't checked MR11 or MR16 size for a recent order,

Andrew Donaldson

ContrabandClive! This video is an absolute gem. Excellent work Clive.

Wrong channel uploads are a peril of having more than one channel.

NightshadeLenar

An incredibly good design. Probably more environmentally friendly than the bulbs in the UK and well worth paying extra for. You would think environmental pressure could induce companies to manufacture/sell them in the UK (or not).

I don't think they would work well if at all. There would be no damage, just not much light if any. On the other hand, running some other 220V lamps on 120V would have the same under-running and increased efficiency and lifespan effect.

Big Clive

Philips has no desire to sell lamps that actually last. They are a corporate that benefits from ongoing sales.

Big Clive

I usually apply audio processing to the whole video, but it caused problems, so I had to process each section individually and then join them afterwards.

Big Clive

Very interesting lights, I do hope this will be made available worldwide. Fresh underpants? Some underpants possibly. 🤦‍♂️😂😂

DC Allan

A top quality video, that was both interesting and educational- no sound issues that I noticed. I wonder how long before the Chinesium Knock offs will start appearing on Flea Bay claiming 15 years of lifespan and killing covid as well?

Mike Hughes

Would they run un-modified on 120V?? Sorry if you answered that in the video I skipped around a lot.

Lostngone

Not dimmable. That would piss me off the most. I noticed that even 1W is often too bright for decorative lighting.

MrTridac

May find this interesting https://images.philips.com/is/content/PhilipsConsumer/PDFDownloads/Saudi%5FArabia/ODLI20160920%5F001%2DUPD%2Den%5FSA%2DPhilips%2DDubai%2DLamp.pdf

Cracking video Clive ! Love the testing / exploration of the circuit. The regulation was most impressive, and loved actually seeing it. Yes a few bits of audio a bit clipped but really did not distract from the contents. Yep I’d definitely buy them if available, but think very unlikely, not just I’ll last well but a lot of people generally will simply want the cheapest (or most heavily marketed) etc

RDM

You should put the phone numbers in for Phillips International sales rep and leverage the power of the Big Clive army to get them to bend to your will!!!

Lostngone

I really like these lamps. I wish they were available here. Maybe someone will catch on and start making them for the rest of the world. I noticed after one of the cuts that the audio was a little louder. Not bad.

Nani Isobel

The only audio issues I heard were when you were tearing into the lamp, it sounded like you might have bumped the mic a couple times. But other than that, it sounded fine.

Michael Dunn

The subscriber base of the other channel is too low to release it on fully. I'm re-uploading it to the correct channel.

Big Clive

Excellent video. Definitely an unusual circuit. Audio was good here too.

Clive, unless you're posting from beyond the grave, that channel kinda works too...

Scott Miller

The circuitry was pretty epic. Very unusual and quite clever.

Big Clive

That's good to know. I thought I heard some peaks when previewing it before upload. It's possible the YouTube system softens them.

Big Clive

I didn't notice any audio anomalies through the video. Everything sounded good to me!

Chris Wiley

Man, this is video is chock full of classic Clive. It's been awhile since a video so packed with goodness. 30 minute lengh, check. Foreign electronics, check. History lesson, check. Surprising circuitry, check. Potential explosion, check. Successful rewiring and testing, check. This video is peak Clive and will definitely be one I recommend as a perfect example of the channel.
