I may switch the superchat to stickers only, as virtual drink tokens. It's just experimental.

Big Clive

That's more down to his obsession with whisky.

Big Clive

I thought I overheard Ralfy doesn't like the idea of people speculating and buying up the whiskey? What did you say he bought with the house money?

Jim

Hi Clive, Sorry to say, I'm not a fan of the super chat idea! I think it breaks up the trains of thought when they do happen, and makes you look way more money hungry than you are! I think if you exclude the ordenary non patreon, and even patreon people because you have to instantly respond to the super chats, it's going to make it suck for all of us! My suggestion would be to have a couple of bigger options for patreon subs, and leave the live streams as an equal field. Just my 2c worth!

Great stream as always! Just had a few comments on your FLSun bed problem as I got one myself and have a few observations. Firstly, none of this excludes your first possibility, that you just got a defective bed. However - I clean my bed thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol quite often, every few prints. I do get excellent bed adhesion with PLA (other than failures due to other causes, like under-extrusion or incorrect Z0 height). What I've noticed is that if you let the bed cool thoroughly, the prints generally do pop off with very little effort. Occasionally I will need to get under the brim or the edge of the part - I use a scraper with razor-blade-like ABS blades, hard and sharp enough to do the job but nowhere near hard enough to scratch the glass - to get it to start coming off, then it just pops off. The critical bit I've noticed is that it isn't enough to wait for the bed temperature sensor to hit room temperature. I don't know where the thermistor is mounted, but the body of the glass is still warmer than ambient. The sensor can read room temp and the part is still stuck fast - but wait another 10-15 minutes and the part then just pops off. I haven't had any serious problems getting parts off the bed since I noticed this and started giving it the extra cool-down time. Should work even better with your preferred room temperature! The scraper I use is https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B076BBW1WM/ . With 100 blades * 2 edges it'll last me many years.

Charles

I'm not sure why that happened. It may have been something to do with your card provider blocking an international transaction for security reasons.

Big Clive

I've only had an apprentice when I've been working for other companies.

Big Clive

That's a tricky area, since many prominent brands have clones. If buying a lithium cell for a critical application I'd pay the extra for one from a prominent supplier or for a less critical application I might use a vaping device battery from a high street store.

Big Clive

Good stream as usual see you all soon

Sorry Clive I bailed out the stream when my credit card got refused trying to do €5 super chat,

Nuts 'n' Proud

Second question. Have you ever taken/trained an apprentice? Any stories?

When looking to buy commercially available batteries for devices (ie 18650s), are there any tips to distinguish quality from cheapo? Thanks πŸ’“

Can we have a Jagermunion drink to Louis Pasteur who invented vaccines?

Mike Hanley

Needed something for easy DC current measurement, saw Clive using this (or similar ) so bought the UNI -T 210e ( it’s a clamp meter so may not be what you want as a general meter) but have been impressed with it, but would buy another from them happily. It’s been dropped, covered in oil, got wet and dried out and still works. Would I use it on a DB etc. no, but for general use can recommend

RDM

You do get silicone eater for removing bathroom silicone. Apparently WD40 can work too. I'm not sure how well it would work on LED silicone or if it would affect the exposed chips underneath. You do get blue filaments with a clear gel on them.

Big Clive

Any good tips on dissolving silicone? I’m trying to strip off the phosphor on led filaments but it’s hard to get off!

Yes, wago style. Dunno any reasoning for the colors

Cerity

Really enjoyed the technical youtube chat that Dave Jones posted. I forgot about the post apocalyptic inventor, and resubbed. Everyone else is already on my watch list. You're so right when you say its a cross over audience.

Why do telephones and calculators use an inverted key sequence?

Andrew Donaldson

Question: I'm needing a new multimeter (nothing fancy, just for general use), do you have any recommendations or suggestions on what to look for?

Are these things rainbow knockoff Wago connectors?

I have a theater connection but have other work so should have a call out for all not working . So need a drink to likes Seb(Sebastian lighting engineer). Morgan who is part time but a landlord so double whammy. All from Cornwall but could name more. OK supporting amateur production musical to panto. Then Jack as our local Queen tribute band. Did you know Roger Taylor went to school at Truro!! Let's have a call out to all in the performing arts struggling PLEASE.

N. Shaun Tremayne

Seconded

Michael Thompson

Can I suggest that Saturdays first toast be to Captain Sir Tom Moore.

Liquidation, but will probably be able to supply stuff soon as a different company. It's been a very rough year for the entertainment industry, and the massive HSE fine they got for having a small explosion in a fireworks factory was totally over the top.

Big Clive

very fetching

Kevin Hardisty

Why not try 32 A? Try to fry :)

Frank

So how far would you trust these connectors 400v 10a πŸ˜‚ Not to any colour standards Inc Chinese !!! Clive needs to fry them say with standard prospective fault current flow for ring main πŸ˜‹

N. Shaun Tremayne

Oh, pretty rainbow connectors!

Adam Christensen

Have you heard about Le Maitre going into liquidation ? The link is here on Companies house. https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/01526624
