Rogue alarms that occur when all the various influencing factors line up for a split microsecond. And years are spent trying to work out why they happen.

Thanks for that Clive. As always it is best to play it safe if unsure. I'll hunt down some.

You can get ceramic terminal block for high temperature applications.

Big Clive

Could someone kindly advise please if it is acceptable in terms of heat resilience, to fit a replacement air fryer halogen bulb lead into a section of 13A screw terminal block? It's just that having to twist and re-crimp up to 6 leads seems ridiculous when the element could require replacing again, for which a spur of two leads would suffice!

My Moto E4 Plus stopped charging. I discovered that the battery has swollen by 50% and popped the back of the phone off. Two week wait for a new battery, so I replaced the phone with a G30. I'll still change the battery in the old one though ...

2 blown air-fryer halogen bulbs and a sparking electric table fan. :-(

This morning the power switch on my 25 yo coffee machine broke :-(

That's all of us.

Rectenna sure sounded like it went somewhere else

I propose a toast... To all those who have had a sh1t week with electrical apparatus.

Has to do with wavelength. The shorter wavelength's correspond to body parts, turning RF energy into heat. The higher the energy level the greater the heat that can be produced/induced. So, when microwaving dinner, don't watch the food cook!

That bit about lighting a light bulb with RF energy reminds me of a quirk from using a CB radio to talk with friends back in my childhood in the late 90s. I had a car type CB antenna in the window. One day during the Christmas period, I noticed one bulb faintly glowing near the end of a fairy light string in the room. Trying to work what made it glow, I found the culprit to be the CB mic got stuck in a drawer with its button held in. Even holding a small bulb against the antenna would light it up when transmitting. It makes me wonder why no one was concerned about the RF energy from CB radios at the time compared to the tiny amount mobile phones emit.

Interesting read! Thanks for the link.

If they really thought it was microwave energy it would be very easy to detect at damaging levels. Probably with something as simple as a rectenna and LED.

Big Clive

It might be interesting to get some thoughts on this Havana Syndrome. A focused beam to the brain? WTF! It's hard to believe it's not detectable somehow. And people are worried about 5G!

Jim

I will actually be completely naked.

Big Clive

I should probably avoid saying "Thursday" as it may be other days depending on where you are in the world. It may seem fast because of the extra stream last week.

Big Clive

Thank-you, Clive. I'm gonna need this. Mad old week, but not unfruitful.

Mike Page

Stealth does that mean Clive will wear a Harry Potter Invisibility Cloak or will he go commando? (It is a joke)

Nuts 'n' Proud

Wow, its that time already. Time flies....
