Not a video (yet) - can you guess what it is?

Mystery device that I'm currently running tests on.
It's notable that the clone has balance circuitry unlike the original device it's based on.
I have to say that it looks extremely technical. Like a sci-fi prop.
It's from a scrapped power bank, but you can buy the bare modules on eBay.
This one is only running on a single pair of cells to test their capacity.

Where did you get the board with the USB sockets on, Clive? I could do with one of those! 💕

Looks like a rechargeable Ryobi tool battery pack. It looks to be full of 10 sub-C sized cells.

From the comments I'm reading so far Clive, it may be worth considering doing a video about how an average user can go about re-balancing / saving dead battery packs. I certainly have a few Ryobi ones which haven't had issues so far (touch wood) but it would be good to know how to rescue them if they were to go kaput.

It looks like it has potential. Very similar to my oil burner.

Some sort of tool battery to USB? That'd be extremely useful. And you could 3D print whatever make of battery pack connecter it was going to be attached to.

If it has spent any time in salt water, Mavis will be completely wrecked. DC electrolysis and salt water make short work of PCBs.

I dont know what it is but do know what I would love it to be, the electric part of a submersible for Scrufdog s hunt for mavis project I would love to see the technical family get behind developing a remote operated submersible, he cant do it on his lonesome but I bet if the Teck Family got behind the project, someone could do the control electrics and one do the 3D printing of the body, you get the idea, I know Scrufdog would not ask so I am, any chance of organising this Clive. it would be fun watching this come together.

Bedside reading lamp ;-) or a "Insane-a-tizer" pocket torch
Thee big lump on top I guess is the charging adaptor for a cordless drill charger.
That is quite a lot of Li-ion cells.

Well it’s not Dewalt / Makita or AEG, seen the insides of too many of those, but at least my spare 18650 collection has grown significantly. Surprised with the older AEG (or whoever they are now ) a glass bead thermistor used right on the edge of the pack - a gentle knock on site and another “it won’t recharge “ battery to fix

Power tools battery pack with the vertical center post. On a more abstract level, I'm seeing a space vessel with the bridge in the center and the 2 powerful plasma reactors in the back. Love that glowing LED effect here.
