Q&A part 2

Comments

I get the arguments for ground-up installation of outlets, but my GOD I hate them. Too many devices and extension cords assume a ground-down orientation and ground-up makes using those things awkward or even impossible (or impossible without zip-tying to a nearby bit of structure). I have a handful of outlets in my house that are like that and one of these days I'll get sufficiently annoyed to flip them around.

Surge protectors may help a little bit with their common mode suppression chokes. I get the feeling that the fuses being used may be quick blow.

It may depend on the listening device. If it's too boomy it limits the devices it can be played on, as mobile devices only have tiny speakers.

16:50 Wouldn't a plug-in surge protector limit inrush current as it contains a thermistor? It's a good idea to surge protect computer equipment like laser printers anyway. Some printers carry a warning to shut the printer down before turning it off at the wall or you may cause damage over time. Also why keep turning the printer on/off all the time anyway? My printers at home stay on permanently, and the printers at work do as well. No issues.

I'm sure I'm alone, but the warm deep audio of part 1 sounds much better than this light thin sound - bit like an old valve radio compared to a tranny. Your voice sounds filtered here, like we're not getting the real bear.
