I try not to keep a balance I care about in PP as they have already locked my account 5 times and are always seeking further KYC info. This happened twice while travelling in Asia, and the rest while at home. Each case was close to an online purchase. 🤷‍♂️ I’m pretty sure I’ve exhausted all avenues to KYC validate now, dispute having biometric authentication and app based 2FA enabled. They have been great for most things, but those experiences have made me question their reliability enough not to hold monies there long term.

I've found PayPal to be pretty good for multi-currency use. But their fees seem to be getting higher over time.

Banks! :) I feel some of that pain too. I had to leave a overseas bank after 8 years (and with a perfect customer history) for being non-domicile and having a foreign statements address. Thank goodness for modern multi currency accounts :) I regularly recommend the free Monzo Business to small businesses that don’t handle cash. They are very approachable in chat and if you have a complaint they have an independent customer advocacy team that are very compassionate to deliberate or accidental situations that leave the customer feeling unfairly treated. Even as a spare, it’s useful to have facilities at the ready should you need them in a hurry.

You can get 20 acres with a 1970-built 3-bedroom house, double attached garage, 44x100 foot steel quonset building, 20x28 2nd garage or workshop plus storage sheds, grain bins, and other small outbuildings for the equivalent of UKP 130,000.

Probably a good move as doing workshop stuff in the house is not always ideal and you have said in the past about all the techy stuff you have accumulated over the years. I know of others who I follow on YouTube who have crowd-sourced to kit out parts of their new workshops / man caves / etc. Maybe something you may want to consider if it all goes through.

Good on ya Clive, I bought a virtually derelict two storey building to use as a workshop/play pen a couple of years back and never looked back. It's now waterproof has an eletrical supply, new windows and the loo works. I've enjoyed every minute. Your a practical guy so it'll be absolutely fine I'm sure. We'll done and good luck.

Good luck, and I hardly think you need more unsolicited advice at this stage, but just to reiterate what someone above said: Don't let them take more than you think it's really worth, considering all the maintenance work you might have to do. It will be an exciting development if you get it, but there are always other exciting things to do with a wad of cash!
