3A lithium charger module

This model seems really common on eBay.  It can be found by searching for TP4056 3A

The design is very simple.  Just a cluster of four standard charge control chips in parallel.

Have you come across those universal wall-warts with reversible low voltage connectors?

Mike Page

I have fallen in the trap a few times, designing a PCB with the +, - inverted for the DC connector. In one case I could mount the DC plug on the back side of the PCB, the other time I Dremmeld (is that a word?) the tracks and hot wired the DC connector. Didn't look good as I had to epoxy the connector to the PCB - but it worked.

It would make sense to couple the heat through to the ground plane.

According to "SHEN ZHEN FINE MAD ELECTRONICS GROUPCO., LTD." the thermal resistance from junction to ambient could be 125 K/W. The IC dials down the constant current to avoid overheat. I reckon those through-holes under each part are heatsinking. Your FLIR will reveal more.

It is, because of its simplicity.

These overviews of current gadgets are extremely useful and informative. Ta, BC.

Ymir the Frost Giant

that's quite an elegant design
