New Poundland Halloween stuff

This is much better.  New Poundland stuff that has great hackability for making custom items.

The solar skull and pumpkin have better batteries than the small button cell found in the standard solar lights.

Slightly sand the 4 edges of the "light guide" to spread the light a little better - though the LED looks so dim I doubt it would make a big difference - on the other hand it can't get worse :-)

3D print a better light guide for the fake filaments.

Fantastic Video Think there may be a Poundland where I am now

“I’m just going to smack the pumpkin under the table…” Oh my….

Interesting circuits. I agree with Mike Hughes about the hackability of the strobe. I'm playing with some 5252F charge controller chips this week, trying to see if I can blow them up with USB power. A friend gave me five solar garden lights that are "on a spike", and all had an expired 2/3 AA cell. I'm partially successful converting to a NiMH AAA, but the capacity is so low as to reduce "on-time". More experimenting is in order. I may have to postpone, as you've scared the shite out of me with these spooky lights. It might take a week to recover. Oh my heart!!!

You'd be frightened by the price of a new one, too. I just found out the hard way.

That 2/3 AAA cell was interesting. I've never seen one like it.

That strobe light has endless possibilities for hacking, and for a couple of quid is a bargain. I was in Poundland this morning having a looksee at their Haloween stuff. Not as much as pre covid days though.

Mike Hughes

I have the old ,old version of that strobelight....a real flashtube....was in our Dutch "Poundland".....or Action....cost me 2,96 euro back then....

That vintage bulb needs a 3D printed filament of some sort.

A nice set of new shinieys

I suppose they can't use a proper strobe in the strobe light do to the risk of inducing seizures or whatever in people who are sensitive.

Dr Andy Hill

Oh no! I hope the YouTube doesn't have a fit at the cracking open of a skull in a video! 🤣
