Very "retro" design that may be Japanese

I'm making a guess that this unit may be an ongoing product originally biased towards the Japanese market.  I can recall buying one literally decades ago.  Possibly even before the Internet!

The circuitry is strangely retro for a microcontroller based product, with a very functional design.

I elaborated a bit more on the battery monitoring circuit in the video's description.

Mine came the other day. After a random Ali Express discount it was £7 something delivered!

I'd suggest adding a diode to drop the voltage that little bit for a USB supply.

Would I be OK running the ozone generator off 5v powerbank or would you recommend adding a diode for a volt drop. I just ordered one for £13. Just for interest I run an Omron M10-IT Blood Pressure on a powerbank it should have 4 AA batteries I gave up using the USB to download data it gave me a headache, just use a spreadsheet now. The battery drain on standby was killing me ;-) making my [BP go up] never worked when I wanted it to. To use it I do not bother setting the clock just turn it on and off to bypass the date entry and then use it. It pumps well on 5v but some powerbanks do give a low battery warning. https://youtu.be/RaW4XwfpSTI this is what it looks like. I have a few telephone appointments over the past 2y and taking my own reading stops the doctor over medicating me. all the best John

or it just got ripped off by someone in china

That’s great - yes has that real retro vibe construction- wise ; it’s no good just got to get myself one of those

I wonder if the original Japanese designers decided it was end of life as far as they were concerned and sold the manufacturing rights to the highest bidder?

I bought one of these about 20 years ago as a fridge freshener so yes it's a pretty old design.

and thats another ioniser ordered. oh dear :)

Anita Davis

After you've shown it last week in the live stream, I immediatly ordered one and today it arrived. Will watch your video, so I can see what's inside.

More screws!!!

In car ionisers are a popular option in Japanese cars. My r33 GTR skyline came with something similar in the rear parcel shelf, stupidly I gave it away to someone as I was wanting the interior as standard as possible.

Mark Chapman

Very nice! I like it when stuff makes it happy, Clive! It is decidedly old school in the way that it is put together! Delightful! :D

Michael Thompson

So much screwing in one day will wear your screwdriver out!
